I don't think the line is as obvious between japanese and western developers as it once was.

I mean...can you really tell RE5 was done by Japan? How about Dead Rising? I really can't tell as they both play like a lot of western developed games...

That's why I always loved Capcom games :)

They get points for Dead Rising which is awesome... but Resident Evil 5 is a catastrophy.

"Lets take a 5 year old game that was amazing back then but surpassed today and make it 1/2 the length, unplayable in single player, make the story and characters laughable. We will keep the dated controls and add coop. Everyone loves coop!"

You can't say that the characters in RE5 are laughable if you compare them to RE4 characters. The plot and the characters were awful in RE4.

Well at least they made one of the (IMO the) best co-op games of all time with this tactic !

Awesome move.

I dont see difference between gears of war coop ar RE5 coop. Other than dated controls in RE5 and better cover system in gears.

The fact that you don't own Japanese games doesn't imply much about the gaming world as a whole, especially with the 360 being 'the American console'

There are a huge number of new japanese franchises
Wii ________
Nintendogs
Professor Layton
If you're going to claim Modern Warfare as a new IP then I'm going to claim RE5, Killzone 2 and FFXIII,which differ much more from their predecessors than MW does
Big brain Academy
Valkyria Chronicles
Resistance
motorstorm
Uncharted
Brain Age
Tomodachi Collection
Rythym Heaven

@ cheebee - Red Steel is made by the French, and the 2nd game isn't even set in Japan

I don't agree. There are only 2 western games that I like (God of War III and Heavy Rain), The rest of the games are all Japanese games. Too bad there aren't as much Japanese games as there used to be in the PS1 and PS2 generations. I think this generation has the least games for me.
I really don't like western games :( Maybe it's the characters' design (those guys with very big muscles and very ugly face) and the way of telling stories... I don't know.

But for me it is Japanese games>>>>>>Western games
And Anime>>>>>>>Cartoons :P

But it's only my taste and my opinion.

And Manga>>>>>>>>>>Anime :P

Alistair, Duncan, and Morrigan forgettable? NEVER!!!

Definitely more western games. I have 1 Japanese game this generation and 10 western ones. Over the last three generations all my but three of the games I have played are western. Yeah, I have very little interest in Japanese games, not my style.
