Forums - Microsoft - Pachter: Natal games being delayed as not enough release slots this year

Pachter: "The guys I talked to, everybodies got Natal. I've heard from people saying we can't get into the launch window for Natal, we're next year. They have so much cool stuff coming next year"

Its a small snippet in the Pachter on Move segment.

It pretty much corraborates with what I've heard from developers on Beyond3D that Microsoft is flogging Natal behind the scenes in a significant way. They are indeed treating it like the launch of a new console and they have said to that effect. The term money hat doesn't describe what they are doing from what I hear. I suspect the better term would be money bagging because they have been handing out a lot of bags.

To me it eliminates the one question I have about software support. They will have that and more in spades.

Tease.

That's pretty exciting. Can't wait to see what sort of stuff they've been cooking up for it.

Edit: Oh, wait. Pachter? They're fucked.

Like who?

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Would you say something that could possibly get your sources fired?  I didn't think so

^ hold on, you would get fired for announcing a delay on your game?

Thats kinda ridiculous.

The issue is Pachter doesn't know what he's talking about. eg. "RDR wouldn't sell", "WiiHD is now PS3". Providing sources might ultimately help his case.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

His reputation really does cast a shadow over anything he says though. getting things so dreadfully wrong in the past puts an onus on one to provide evidence for future claims. For all we know his inside sources are the same ones that told him World of warcraft was a passing fad, That the playstation would stomp this generation with the Wii a complete failure or that RDR is going to fail significantly in the sales department.

With this sort of statements it's all to obvious Natal really has to get it from the marketing Hype. So Cirque du Soleil stuff is more important than showing us the real software that could make sell Natal? That could really bring in the bucks for Microsoft? Although they have a 2 hour show, let's bring some acrobats on stage and call off some publishers we won't show their amazing Natal stuff they made for us since we have been tryin to create momentum for one year on this device....

I think they have their plan well put togeteher how to put this thing in the market and I think they are givin' it their best shot on how to do this. It's just not workin' for me to create such speculation.
At least sony is showing us what they are bringin' it is to early to put them "in the WII' corner until we played it ourselves. The same goes for Natal, but with sony I don't feel any hype.

The fog they try to create around this device is gettin' thicker every day, making you curious what's behind this marketing fog...Even if it's "all that great" it can probably only dissapoint from this point on...Just because my hopes are that high now...

This Pachter guy is not making any sense, J-allard probably leaving microsoft (this guy is involved in the courrier and the natal project) etc etc. One news headline tryin to overshadow the other news headline...

In every way I hope MOVE and NATAL will blow my socks of though,
Looking forward to E3 2010!!! Hope it is going to be a blast and everybody will show some amazing stuff!

Off playin some Read Dead, Alan Wake and Mario Galaxy 2!!

Pachter's credibility as an analyst is virtually non-existant. All of his predicitions fail. However I do believe he has connections in many studio's publishers. I mean GTTV and G4 wouldn't take him so seriously if he didn't have any connections. Based on the fact that Microsoft is holding a seperate conferance just for Natal leads me to believe their is a crap load of software and the fact that Natal was announced a year ago and the Beta dev kits must have gone out even before E3 2009, leads me to believe Pachter is probubly telling the truth.

I bet you anything their is alot of software already in the works for Natal and with over a year to work on games developers likely are being put on the backburner this fall. Remember in Early 2008 when the first job postings were posted by Microsoft on Gamasutra calling for developers to work on Microsoft's next console. If that console was really Natal that means Microsoft has been working on Natal games for over two years.

I have no doubt that their is alot of software coming from Natal and I also doubt that software isn't being bumped to 2011. Pachter's credability doesn't come into the equation as most of this info is common sense.

No pachter will be wrong, maybe lots of things are coming for natal but i bet they are all mini styled games similar to what the eyetoy had.
