True. People are still forgetting that their are 2 main reasons why the PS3 is selling like it is.
1) It has received 2 prices drops in less then 6 months. As any gamer knows, a price drop (especially right before the holidays) is going to cause sales of your system to increase by a large amount. This is a given. The key though is how well the PS3 sales AFTER the holidays is over. Remember, last holiday the PS3 sold like crazy in Nov/Dec and then is January the systems were stacking up at retailers all over the world. Will this trend continue after this holiday or will the PS3 continue to sell as well as the Wii and XBox 360 in March, Apr, May and Jun?
2) Believe it or not, many electronic savy consumers see the PS3 as a cheap Blu-Ray player. Instead of buying the PS3 to play games, many people are buying it to play Blu-Ray movies and to surf the net in their family room. This is one of the reasons why the software sales have been low for the PS3. With more PS3 sales this should start to change.
The PS3 still has a very large hill to climb to catch the Wii and XBox 360. The PS3 has to start selling more units then the Wii and XBox 360 to catch up. I don't see that happening immediately, but by the end of 2008 we should see the PS3 start making trided to catch up. Once all 3 systems are around the same price the PS3 should do much better. What may happen however is M$ will probably release a new system in 2010 or 2011. If it 100% B/C with the XBox 360 things may get interesting again. That's a ways away, so we'll see what happens int he next couple of years.
