Dont have time to lok up the facts, but I believe right now they have a budget surplus(unlike most of america). And their residents do not pay an sales tax(like CA). Also I believe they have a low crime rate. But just to say I have not had time to look those up to see if they are all true

Lots of cheap labor?

RACISM FTW!!!

Sounds like kids are going to have their education hijacked by people who just want to promote their own agendas. I'm referring to the Thomas Jefferson bit,not the economics stuff cos I don't have a clue about that.

"They will know heghan belongs to the helghast"

"England expects that everyman will do his duty"

"we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"

I like how people try to say that government spending doesn't help the economy, that the New Deal and Keynesian economics did not work.

You ask them, "then what got us out the the Great Depression?"

"World War II."

"Isn't war a form of government spending?"

"Uh..."

Actually,

What really got us out of the great depression was a destroyed Europe begging for American exports to help them out. During the Great Depression, exports and imports dropped 66%. After WW2, they increased massively, and we had a major trade imbalance that favored us creating jobs. So WW2 was the reason for us getting out of the depression - we became a world superpower, which favored our exports for decades.

As you can see, there was about a 200% increase following WW2.

Now, when did the joyride end? The 1980s:

Ironically, when we started importing more than we exported, was also when our government deficits started ballooning. Correlation? Maybe.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

*goes to look at historical clock of pattern events.... ponders for some time.....* yep it's about time for the movement of a new militaristic world oppressive country to start rising. I would say in about 100 or so years America will have conquered around 50% of the planet. Only to fall under it's own weight of despotism, arrogance and just plain ignorance. Look out China looks like America has decided to join you in the race.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Your claim is false.  The Great Depression was over before World War II even started, with government spending and the build up of military arms leading to economic recovery in the late 1930's.

I agree with you on exports increasing the trade deficit, though it isn't related to government involvement because more payouts for imports leads to less money in the economy regardless of government policy.

...You forget about Smoot-Hawley then. Government can and does play a significant role in how the country approaches imports and exports.

Also, you do realize that World War 2 started in the late 1930's, right? We were sending aid to Britian far before we entered the war. Yes, spending money on arms did help out, but like every stupid Keynesian argument, it was only a temporary thing. The thing that helped us have a sustainable recovery was, again, the massive increase in exports after WW2, because without them, we would have crashed back to horrible levels of unemployment (remember, our GDP dropped 20% in 1945 due to the end of the war, but unemployment was flat)
