They have been rumored by several sources forum-goers to be close to a price cut, so I dont think that they will profit for long.

Fixed that for you to show how stupid of a statement it is.

Note-- it's not stupid to assume there's a price cut coming, it's stupid to source rumors you hear from people talking out their asses on internet forums like these.

My personal policy towards rumors is to never beleive the first one, but when you see these pop up from more and more net news sites, and that you see that there is some indication from game industry types of people that a price cut will happen, I tend to think that one will come sooner or later.  Now I have a finance background, and if investors only relied on what was proven or what is definite before buying a stock, then there would be a lot of money left on the table.  The bottom line is that expectations do matter, it's just debatable how reliable individual expectations are.

I heard they're making 34$ on every ps3 which is pretty good considering the history

Source?

Maybe nothing... those studies probably don't take in account packaging, shipping, retailers cut... etc... just the pricing of the components.

But anything, including this I just said, is mere especulation.

I've only seen one article anywhere claiming there may be a price cut and it was a ridiculously speculative article with no insider information or anything at all.  They were claiming as much as a $100 cut to the PS3 this fall which would be impossible (unless Sony wishes to post another huge loss, this time 2 billion USD).

I agree, $100 is way too much at this point, NS. I say that $50 could be done though, and keep in mind that Sony looks like it will be getting an additional source of revenue with the premium services thing.

its under $10 they said they hope to make double digit profit by the end of the year so that implies there only makinfg very small amounts and if you think theres a price cut coming get real why would sony even think a bout that if they just started making profit there wont be a price cut until at least holidays 2011

Links matter a lot more rather than you just saying more and more news sites.  Pardon me for being skeptical but when someone says something like that they saw someone making extreme speculation on one random site that has absolutely no source and that's even if they aren't just making it up.

yea sure alot.

That's my personal prediction, too.  A $50 price cut to the PS3, then have Move bundled in for a total of $349.

Those are teardown prices, they don't include packaging, R&D, transport, or marketing. if a price-cut happens I don't think things will turn around until sometime in 2011.

Between the 360 RRoD and PS3 build-cost this is gonna be a generation that MS and Sony are going to wish they could forget. Neither will exit it having made a cent it seems. How they managed to mess it up is beyond me though.
