The best thing you can do right now is compare each version of FFXIII to other games that were selling at a similar rate & see where those games LTD ended up. That will give you an accurate forecast of where each version of FF13 (PS3 or 360) will end up in total sales in Europe. In order to get 2.7 Million you would want the PS3 version to hit 1.7 Million & xbox to get to 1 Million. Or the ratio can be different.

we cnt the site dusnt hve data for ff7 or ff10 weekly sales. im nt sure wht u mean by compring it to title with expcted ltd for ps3  xbox versins?

The closest thing you can use is the FF12 & FF10 data, or maybe look at how other JRPGs hold up on the 360 during their lifetime. it will be a very hard climb on the 360 if you look at something like Mass Effect 1 & 2, neither have sold 0.7 in the EU. and FF13 is already at 0.6 for the 360 (i think). so it seems unlikely it will reach 1 mil in EU on the 360. maybe it can reach 0.7/0.8, but the legs are mainly on the PS3. so hopefully than can reach 2 mil.

dont forget that the release of FF13 Versus; i think that will come out mid 2011, maybe christmas 2011, will likely cause a brief surge in FF13 sales, so we get a fresh pair of legs to carry the game after that. this could well hit that 2.70 number. but as it stands it should cruise straight pass FF8 and gradually pass FF10.

sadly i'm afraid that we'll get something like 2.5 mil and it will be left so close to that target... lets hope it dosent.

Despite that it will still be a resurgence for the series in the region. One more thing wouldn't Versus XIII hamper FFXIII's legs since it will be a new Fantasy, why would FF13's legs improve due to versus 13? am I missing something?

Yeah you could be right, but i'm under the immpression that Versus will cause interest in FF13 to increase. its likely that FF13 will be discounted at this time and i think people who are interested in Versus will pick up FF13 as well at a cheaper price. Versus isnt on the same playing field as FF13 remember because its more of an action game, so i think that the auidence it brings in will also think about getting F13.

i could be wrong about this; but when the dark knight came out on dvd it caused the sales of batman begins and other batman films to surge. i think a simmilar thing could happen here.

I don't think so.

It already got a price-cut, probably because there are to many copies on the shelves (which the others didn't get), and the platinum sales will depend on the word of mouth, which has been mixed.

They shipped 1.77 Million in Europe by the end of march (according to their financial report), there aren't that many copies on the shelf.

Any other reason for the price-cut?

Seriously why are you typing in this way? Are you posting from your phone or is your keyboard broke?

What I mean is compare FF13 to games that have done 1.8 Million on PS3 in Europe & games that have done around 900K on xbox 360. I'll show you an example:

***********

FFXIII (PS3) compared with Metal Gear Solid 4 (to see if it can get to 1.9 Million LTD)

http://www.vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=Others&game1=Metal+Gear+Solid+4%3A+Guns+of+the+Patriots+-+PS3%5B6970%5D&reg2=Others&game2=Final+Fantasy+XIII+-+PS3%5B7727%5D&reg3=Others&game3=&weeks=82

At a glance it tracks underneath Metal gear Solid 4 (its been almost 2 years since that games release)

Looking at a weekly comparison between them:

http://www.vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=Others&game1=Metal+Gear+Solid+4%3A+Guns+of+the+Patriots+-+PS3%5B6970%5D&reg2=Others&game2=Final+Fantasy+XIII+-+PS3%5B7727%5D&reg3=Others&game3=&weeks=82&weekly=1

Its not doing as well for most of the weeks.

What this indicates is that its unlikely FF13 on PS3 will get to 1.8 Million by 2 years of its launch, it could get there by 3 or 4 years of its launch though.

**********

FFXIII (Xbox 360) compared to Fallout 3 (PS3 version) which did 980K in Europe

http://www.vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=Others&game1=Fallout+3+-+PS3%5B6993%5D&reg2=Others&game2=Final+Fantasy+XIII+-+X360%5B24628%5D&reg3=Others&game3=&weeks=82

At a glance its outselling it clearly.

Looking at the weekly comparison between them:

http://www.vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=Others&game1=Fallout+3+-+PS3%5B6993%5D&reg2=Others&game2=Final+Fantasy+XIII+-+X360%5B24628%5D&reg3=Others&game3=&weeks=82&weekly=1

FFXIII (xbox 360) struggles, but only because Fallout 3 was out in the holidays, after the holidays Fallout 3 went below 10K, so we will need a few more weeks to see if it can get to that mark.

**********

Conclusion - Its entirely possible, but won't be easy.

Ok nw i understnd thnks

Its about £30 here, thats still a really competitive price point 10 weeks in and with Red Dead Redemption, Alan Wake and South Africa World Cup out. God of War 3 was reduced in its second or third week compared to FF13 which i think has only recently recieved a price cut.

Does anyone have any theories on why its doing so well? i mean its the worst reviewed FF in the main series (ever i think), the ratings on amazon UK are about 3.5, thats aweful. i'm glad its doing well, its sold more copies on the Xbox in EU than Mass Effect 2, and its about to top ME1. and those games have recieved much more critical aclaim.

Looking at the charts not many PS3 games, mainly shooters reach 1.5-2 mil in EU, so its down to whether or not the 360 version can shift maybe 0.8 or 0.9.

Games in UK drop price pretty quickly. God OF War III is at £25 in many places now, LittleBigPlanet went down to £15, 5 weeks after launch. I have seen this happen to countless games. One key reason is clearly that there were so many big games released at the time it was beneficial for stores to cut price on older big releases in order to push inventory & also to maximise profit/inventory sales before the fiscal year ended (end of march).

It has a metacritic of 82 I believe. I usually go by user reviews on playfire.com because they have lots of people rating who own the game compared to the small amount of user reviews amazon gets. It has 4.4/5 user rating there (same score as X, IX & VIII) while VII is at 4.7, XII is at 4.0 & X-2 is a 3.0.

In terms of why its doing well there's only 1 thing, people are liking it, marketing can do its job for the first few weeks, after that it depends on the game, even on amazon majority of the reviews are 5 stars. In Japan if we compare its clear the game wasn't well recieved by the public because of the drop off in sales (or is a drop off like that common in Japan?)
