Forums - Website Topics - Premium Member Accounts

I think it could be a good idea to introduce paid premium accounts (without ads, something like on IGN). Many smaller sites has such feature. Everyone who finds ads annoying could pay some cash ($15 a year?) to work more comfortable with the site.

ioi would really be raking in the dough. I would probably contribute.

hum, ...

I dont know

It is a bit strange for me to pay in a site JUST to avoid advertissements ...

I know ioi is working for free for the moment (correct me if I m wrong)
I dont see why it should change

Time to Work !

i would be in on it

they are working 4 free(as far as i can see)and producing a quality website

why shouldnt they profit out of it

 Working for free?

Does that mean the money earnt from all the advertisments on this site only just cover it's running costs?

I would pay a small subscription if it meant it helped the site, but not if it was just for the sole purpose of making more money.

I would pay $15/year just to avoid the ads. Some of them are really annoying and flashing in your face when you'r trying to read something.

Predictions for December 31st 2008:
Wii 38,000,000
DS 84,500,000
PS3 17,000,000
PSP 41,000,000
X360 23,000,000

I do think ioi needs to be VERY careful though. A big draw to VGChartz is that the charts are FREE. If people hear talk of Premium Accounts and money in any way, they may be deterred. As much as I would probably pay to support, I dont find implementing this extremely needed.

True. The point of all this idea is to give the people a choice. No extra content or any privilages. Just ad remover. It's like a donate but you get something back. Also I think cost of servers etc. are much bigger than people think. At this stage I really find this site mature and worth an extra help.

If ioi will be able to make some profit on it. It's even better.

There's adverts on this site? Haven't ever seen one.

Agreed - I actually only just noticed a pimp my ride mobile one at the top of the page when I read these messages. Other than that, never noticed them.
