Its hilarious how a large amount of Western gamers will rather play a game staring a large muscular man and tons of gore or a guy parading around in tight spandex.  But put down people for playing a game like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest which focuses on women with revealing outfits and cute expressions.

And yet the people who play the game with the shirtless MACHO MAN is somehow suppose to be the more secure with his masculinity.

totally agree, the spartans were this ultimate super gay/warrior for example and they also were obessed with the macho muscular warrior figure.

I like JRPGs but I'll be damned if this isn't accurate....and funny as hell to boot. As for Nier, instead of fighting over the look of the lead character they should have concentrated on making the game it self. Nier isn't very good. Also why could they go for a compromise character that could have appealed to both markets. Why'd they jump from girly 125lb emo to a macho 300lb gym rat? Couldn't they have made, I don't know 185lb guy that looked like young Auron from FFX?

Its not accurate.  Its only accurate if all you play is Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy.  Like any medium, there's more diversity than just the 'stereotypes'.  Its like saying all Platformer characters have a mustache and overalls.
