Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. I'm not talking about move, though, I'm talking about the 3DS.

Does nobody remember the Virtua Boy and how it worked?

the 360 was in development before the 3ds, unless they started working on the 3ds around the same time they were still in development of the ds.. |
Ok, but what does that have to do with what I said? My point was that we know nothing about development times of these devices and I voiced my general disagreement with axumblade's response.

No, actually it can't. The move is heavy influenced by the Wii remote and Nunchuck.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

the aesthetic looks and the inclusion of the nav maybe, but joeorc posted this http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=103904 a while back after gdc. it provides evidence that sony has been working on a device to work with there camera technology in the works since before the article was written in 2003.
anyway I have started to de-rail this thread so I am leaving before I pull it of the tracks.
correct me if I am wrong
stop me if I am bias
I love a good civilised debate (but only if we can learn something).
The "who copied who" debate is so old and pointless...why can't we just let it go?
OT:
I now Microsoft doesn't have a handheld of their own, but it's great to see companies complementing a competitor for a change.

They didn't!
But seriously, even if Nintendo did pioneer 3D, it's only a sustaining innovation (like Sony's move to CD's with the PS1), so it'd be nothing to brag about. These things are natural improvements, unlike say, the standard controller to the Wiimote.
As for giving the 3DS the thumbs up, we haven't even seen it yet! I personally can't comment until I see it in action, I will say that I'm hoping for more than just a DS with 3D visuals.

You have a point, but it hinges on the assumption that Nintendo hadn't been working on the 3DS before it's announcement. Just because Sony and Microsoft announced their intention to use 3D before Nintendo did, it doesn't mean that Nintendo's years of work on the 3DS mean nothing. I mean, it's not like 3D is something they could tack on at the end of development. They must have been working on it for years. |
You can play Avatar in 3D on your Xbox 360 today and you are saying MS might have "copied" Nintendo because they will release a 3D machine in a few months and have been working on it for quite some time. So MS copied a never announced product they did not know about and still is not released.
"OK"
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
