Forums - Gaming - Square announcement will “change Japanese history”

I remember a couple years back when SE made a big deal about the DKΣ3713 private party. I remember how innocent and gullible I was. I swear I was so excited. They hyped it, the forums hyped it, and it turned out to be an announcement for advent children complete.

I learned the hard way to not give a flying fuck about anything they announce or say anymore. They are the masters overhyping. Their tactics are really starting to piss me off.

I can't help but think of all the people that are being tricked into believing that this is something huge.

Maybe they're going to get Yahoo to replace all mentions of "Emperor Jimmu" with "Sephiroth" in their search results.

What could change Japanese history (as far as consoles...)? Some exclusive alliance with Microsoft that supposedly will bring about the sales of lots of 360s in Japan, thus changing Japanese console sales history.

SE is going to bomb Pearl Harbor?

Whatever it turns out to be, I'm quite confident that by the end of it, Nintendo will be d0med.

We’ve been around the block. We’re no strangers to hyperbole. But this is something quite special.

Square Enix saying it will “change Japanese history” on May 21 with a game announcement related to some sort of partnership with Yahoo!.

That’s one hell of a claim.

As Siliconera notes, the publisher mentioned moving into network games as a goal in recent financials, so Yahoo! would probably be a good fit with that.

Maybe Yoichi Wada’s going to go back in time and trick all the Samurai into wearing Mickey Mouse hats, or something.

Or maybe it’s a load of bollocks. Who can say?

OMG! It happened before in Austria! :-O

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Square is just doing this as a publicity stunt. Nothing they make could possibly alter Japanese history. Unless maybe its a historically based game that changes the way Japanese history flows. Maybe Japan won WWII and they are releasing a game where the empire rules the earth!

Whatever this announcement is it seems that if it will change Japanese history, it has to be exclusive to Japan. so we might not get to play any game etc there planning to announce.
