Forums - Microsoft - What are XBLG subscribers paying $50 a year for?

Why?

1. Because Xbox Live is paid, Microsoft has servers in my country and downloads over my crappy connection are 10-100* faster than PSN.

2. Xbox Live lets me connect to people over the other side of the world reasonably well. PSN is a no go. For me, everyone is at least half a hemisphere away. Edit: Except for Mario Kart cheats like Rolstoppable whom I would never want to play online with EVER.

3. Xbox Live has more content and more games than PSN. Every game has a demo which is why I never buy PSN games because I got so used to Xbox Live demos.

4. Xbox Live has moderators and it protects me somewhat from nasty individuals.

5. Xbox Live matchmaking is fairer. I get into more fun games where im not being dominated by some uber awesome individual like JaggedSac whereas on PSN its a crapshoot as far as the quality and skill of your opponents.

So overall I have a much better experience on Xbox Live than I do on PSN or Wii online and I hardly go online on the PC except with a few strategy games and they are mostly peer to peer.

Tease.

I know there is a 3 word post minimum on VGChartz, but I really only need one:

Quality

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I am not sure exactly what your paying for on XBL other than the indy market and some flashy features to make it look like there is lots to do.

Because of Halo basically, its worth every penny to play one of the best multiplayer experiences ever!  I would probably pay even more just to play Halo, it really is that good of a game (of course MW2 isn't that bad either, but when Reach comes out, thats it!)

Oh lord not again.

No no, that statement should be used for this overtalked about topic.

Or for the over hyped and overtalked video game version of the Power Rangers.

Hey man don't talk about something you don't have a clue about....

What are they paying for? I see PSN having almost the same features, while Steam is way beyond PSN and XBL. Both Steam and PSN are free.

My question is, what are XBLG users paying $50 that is worth over PSN and Steam?

You would think people who have been on this board for a long time would stop asking stupid ass questions, but I wonder why we keep getting them...great for collecting the VG$ to the ole piggybank, that's for sure.

LOL...isn't Sony and Nintendo looking at subs, after raging against it for years? Hmmm....seems to me that this is a BUSINESS, and these BUSINESS should make smart decisions to make money for shareholders, while delivering something that gamers value. Given that XBL continues to grow in subs, proves that people are statisfied at what they are getting...this is same as when clowns rage against WoW as to how other MMOs are so much better....comical.

All I have left to say is this: I have high speed internet. I have a PS3, a (pretty weak) PC, a Wii and an Xbox 360. The 360 is the only Microsoft console I've ever owned so I'm not a fanboy (at least I don't think I am). There has to be a reason I do all of my online gaming on the 360 and there has to be a reason why I pay $50 to do it.

You game on the 360 to justify the spending $50 to do it, if you only played 1 game online on 360 instead of most for example it puts it into perspective.  If I rent a second car that cost me more money than my first I'm going to use that thing as much as possible.

Except for that's not true.  I could just not pay the $50 at all and use only the PS3 in most instances.  And I wouldn't rent that second more expensive car unless it was better than my cheaper car.

I think its worth it ,PSN just winds me up Downloads and updates take forever on it .And why when i download a game from PSN store do i have to download it twice ,i dont have to do that on XBL .
