“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

What? Thats as good as were going to get before E3, and 9 times out of 10 a name registration has produced an actual product with that actual name (or an extremely similar name).

It doesn't confirm anything dude.

Nintendo has the "Revolution" trademark and yet the console is called the Wii.

Those trademarks maybe are just to prevent "brand" theft than nothing else.

Or you could be right too, there's always that possibility.

Is it cool that I'm more excited for a Pokemon Card game than the 3DS?

Pixel Art can be fun.

EVERYONE likes the name 3DS, most people were happy with calling it that, since we pretty much improvised the name ourselves, and its not like Nintendo would actually take our name for it.

Interesting, a bit like the Xbox went straight to Xbox 360, they skipped 2! Maybe choosing the number 3 is a psychological choice?

Ok, so it's common sense to call it the 3DS because it's ... well 3D

But Microsoft chose 360 so that it wouldn't feel in any way a weaker console to the Play Station 3.

Yes, the DS name is realy popular but also keep in mind that it will confuse the consumer thinking it's just another iteration of the DS.
