Why is Obama's birth certificate being called into question with use of the founder's intentions as part of the argument? None of the founders were American born and some of them like Washington, Adams, and Jefferson, became Presidents so I really don't see the issue...

 i think you're confusing the tea party with the Birthers. While there is overlap there, the Birthers are just conspiracy nuts while the Tea Party can have legitimate ground to speak of. The Birthers are just desperate to get Obama out on something, anything. Not aware that tossing him out would simply put Joe Biden in. The instant he was elected it was too late to stop a democrat from getting office, even if he himself were taken down.
