Forums - PC Discussion - What can you tell me about this laptop?

I want a laptop that I could use for the next 3-4 years with a nice processor and that runs games just OK, I don't need it running games on the highest settings.

I just found this one and for the price it seems like it's an amazing deal, but I don't know too much about the Intel HD Graphics (says it has up to 1696MB Total Available Graphics Memory), does it mean that it actually has that much of graphics memory? Having 256 is enough for running the latest games and 512 is recommended, I don't believe this laptop has 1696MB of graphics memory, please help me!

Oh and please don't recommend me a laptop with blu-ray, if I wanted one I'd get an external drive

This article on the Intel HD Graphics card may help. It discusses the general performance of the card, and has some game benchmarks towards the bottom:

Personally, I'd go with one of these 3
http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/inspiron-1764?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&redirect=1
From left to right clock speeds are 2.13, 2.26, 2.4.. Also Dell has good deals on smaller laptops as well (these are 17" laptops)
Prices are $709, $799 and $929 for those 3

EDIT: Basically the middle one on the Dell site is the same as the one you have except it has an 'actual' video card and not an integrated card

Unicorns ARE real - They are just fat, grey and called Rhinos

Oh here is the same type of page that Arcturus gave for the integarted card with the 4330, as you can see most games are in green > 30 FPS whereas the integrated is >30fps for the most part

How about this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115733

It has a decent middle of the range GPU, CPU and overall quality but its fairly well priced at $750.

Its capable of playing any game out there, including Crysis and other modern taxing games whilst being able to push better than console framerates and resolution for console ports. Its a very good level of performance for a laptop and a steal considering the price.

Tease.

^^ Go with Squilliam's - Nice find, forgot to check newegg

Screw all of those.

Get this....It's total win. Worth every penny. Plus you get Samsung quality laptops which just recently made their way to the States.

@Rpruett

GT 330M = Not total win.

@OP

Do not, ever, buy Intel integrated graphics and expect them to play games. Not even on low settings.

Agreed, go with what Squilium said.
