It can't be that hard to make a vampire game nowadays, since one of the most popular interpretations of the monster is a flat-out Villain/Anti-Hero Stu. Just stick fangs and generic superpowers to random people, change the setting to eternal night and add a crapload of sex, angst and goth crap. Bang, you're done.

Now, making a vampire game that isn't just a godmoded Prototype with a few vampire-themed tack-ons might be more of a challenge. Or hell, making one that would actually be interesting and well written, for that matter, since IMO that would actually require breaking the mold of the current KEWL vampire - that is, presenting the monster with actual weaknesses and inner conflicts that WereKitten mentioned (assuming the character is good).

I take it you never played a Legacy of Kain game.

I've only briefly played Blood Omen with one of my late friends, but I wouldn't mind more games like that. :p

Legacy of Kain was really a great series overall. It was story driven entirely which is nice. Now the gameplay has aged a good amount these days, and it's best to go with the PC versions(as they don't have as many camera problems). Still the story is one of my top 5 in the games I've played.

It's flawed, but Vampire Bloodlines : The Masquerade is probably the best Vampire game I've played.

It's on PC built on Steam. Graphics were mixed, the shooting was a bit flawed but overall it was very good, with neat RPG elements and a real sense of a Vampire society - it also featured what remain some of the most inventive levels in an FPS type presentation, particularly a visit to a Haunted Hotel amongst a few others.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Hm, I might actually get those once I've cleared my current backlog a bit. Assuming getting them to work doesn't get too painful.

EDIT: So thanks for the recommendation. :p

If they made a vampire dating sim for Facebook it'd probably make oodles of money and/or crash the system...

Seriously though, weren't they going to do a new Castlevania game with Alucard? I remember seeing a short teaser for it a while back.
