Alright, so as you know, the motion picture industry has been on a Vampire kick the last few years. There are tons of great vampire movies coming out, the best of which is Let the Right One In, or Thirst. It has become even more popularized by the Twilight series of novels, which have translated into mediocre but hugely successful movies.
In fact, vampire and financial success go hand in hand. The concept of the "point of view of the vampire" story as made popular by Anne Rice, is vastly popular in today's society. Not only that, EVERYONE is cashing in.....except Videogames.
So what gives? Why isn't there a new Vampire:TM, or a new IP that takes advantage of this popularity. Hell, I could draw up a concept for a shitty vampire game and it would sell a million copies, just on concept alone. Vampires are that popular.
We have one vampire franchise, Castlevania, and it's barely got any vampires in it at all. It's really a "Vampire Hunter" franchise(unless they bring Alucard back, which they should). How could our industry not have some big names working on some vampire hack and slash, or Alan Wake style suspense games?
I just finished re-reading Salem's Lot by Stephen King, and I have to say, that book would make one hell of a storyline for a game. Come on Capcom, or somebody, FFS, give your audience a new Blood Rayne or something, anything, to simply cash in on this phenomenon.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
