Forums - Gaming - Where the hell are my vampire games?

Alright, so as you know, the motion picture industry has been on a Vampire kick the last few years. There are tons of great vampire movies coming out, the best of which is Let the Right One In, or Thirst. It has become even more popularized by the Twilight series of novels, which have translated into mediocre but hugely successful movies.

In fact, vampire and financial success go hand in hand. The concept of the "point of view of the vampire" story as made popular by Anne Rice, is vastly popular in today's society. Not only that, EVERYONE is cashing in.....except Videogames.

So what gives? Why isn't there a new Vampire:TM, or a new IP that takes advantage of this popularity. Hell, I could draw up a concept for a shitty vampire game and it would sell a million copies, just on concept alone. Vampires are that popular.

We have one vampire franchise, Castlevania, and it's barely got any vampires in it at all. It's really a "Vampire Hunter" franchise(unless they bring Alucard back, which they should). How could our industry not have some big names working on some vampire hack and slash, or Alan Wake style suspense games?

I just finished re-reading Salem's Lot by Stephen King, and I have to say, that book would make one hell of a storyline for a game. Come on Capcom, or somebody, FFS, give your audience a new Blood Rayne or something, anything, to simply cash in on this phenomenon.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Zombies ate the Vampires Im afraid.

Honestly, I had never thought of it. I love zombie games, so I imagine I would love a vampire game.

nice idea, you should probably pitch it to some of the big companies

It's almost all zombies these days. * shakes head *

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

something from the legacy of kain series would be nice

Wii/Mario Kart Wii Code:2793-0686-5434

The Witcher? He looks enough like a vampire, and I think there's a sequel out soon.

I agree, a story driven vampire game would be awesome!

lol, The Witcher is great, but he's no vampire. We need something hip and happening. A GREAT vampire game like I'm talking about is Vampire:The Masquerade Bloodlines, but I think it came out in 2000, lol. If I was a developer, I would pitch the shit out of this. Man, they need some vampire games. Zombies are novel and all, but they stopped being scary after the PS1. Plus, it's not about being scary, it's about playing as a badass, but good at heart(or gamers choice) cursed vampire.

We've got an open world western(fantastic) coming out soon, so where is my open world Vampire game in New Orleans Rockstar?

....an open world game set in New Orleans.....man, I could bottle this mind and sell it for gold.
