He isnt well he is..

he is emotional.

yes Cloud does experience emotions, but he's hardly emo. People cite him being sad when Aeris hit the yard but I think it's pretty normal to be sad when someone you care about dies. Cloud is more selfish than emo in FFVII.

Now Advent Children is a different story...but that's not something I'm willing to defend.

Leo-j you haven't ever played FFVII unless you suddenly found a copy and beat it in the last month.

Cloud wasn't emo really, but he was sort of an ass haha. That's another reason I always liked Zidane. He was outgoing and friendly. Probably the only main FF character (in the 3D games) to have a good personality.

Basically my breakdown of the FF heroes is:

Cloud: Selfish jerk, less so at the end.
Squall: Disturbed and emo, but in love (gotta count for something right???)
Zidane: Outgoing and friendly. Also in love, but less stupid about it.
Tidus: Whiny little girl. I didn't think anyone could possibly be such a baby until...
Vaan: My god this guy was an awful character. Whiney, cowardly, and spineless. He never had the balls to step up and take charge of his life and was constantly bossed around by others. I want to strangle him.

FFXIII will suck just like FFX, FFXI and FFXII all did, the last good Final Fantasy games were on PS1, all of them on PS2 sucked badly...

Cloud was best when he was a selfish jerk. I always though that's what made him funny, but his actions were still heroic in a way. He wasn't Zidane or anything in that regard but he still helped people out like Tifa and Aeris...he just did it in such an arrogant way that it was funny.

Zidane is also hilarious! Gotta love his horny style. He was a good guy but not exactly a saint so he didn't fall into the cliche that many heroes do. Sadly I don't think Zidane had a very strong supporting cast, aside from him and Vivi I didn't like anyone else all that much. I guess Steiner was needed because Zidane just owned him over and over

Squall and Tidus are two of my most hated characters. Tidus wouldn't have been so bad if he didn't have the worst voice ever.

Vaan...he seemed like the most average main character ever. I don't even remember him doing anything significant in the game...he was kinda just there. I haven't played the DS game yet so maybe he's better in that.

And I should say that Terra was cool but at the same time a pretty depressing character. She had the sweet girl thing down so well that you couldn't help but feel sorry for her during most of the game.

Vaan is better in Revenant Wings because he actually takes charge of his life instead of being in the backseat to a story he obviously has no part in.  Even Penelo manages to have a little personality in Revenant Wings.  From a character standpoint, FFXII: Revenant Wings >>>>> FFXII. 

And yeah, Terra was such a nice person.  It's hard not to feel sorry for her being put through all this stuff that she didn't ask for.  She's one of my favorite FF heroes, and I always wished FF would have another female character like her.  Unfortunately, now that FF finally adds a new female lead, the developers have described her as "a female version of Cloud" which means she'll be nothing like Terra, and I'll probably dislike her.

That is what makes me think I will love Lightning as much as I loved Cloud.
