2008 Totals so far:

Wii 273,000
360 269,000
PS2 200,000
PS3 176,000

The Wii and the 360 are very equally matched. Sony have sold more playstation 2s than 3s so far. Far from surpassing, the Wiis actually taken a 100k hit from the PS "family" in 2008.

Well a 10th of 2008 has passed. 40 million Wiis in 2008 is still looking like a fairly ridiuclous statement. The numbers are pretty interesting though. In America Sonys situation looks as bleak as ever, the PS2 is STILL outselling the PS3, although if you add up the 2 systems the playstation is easily outselling the Wii right now. Unbelievably the PS2 has outsold the 360 worldwide so far in 2008, but its close both consoles averaging around 100k a week so far.

Nearly a quater has passed & its not looking too good for the Wii passing 40m in '08 is it?

And in the US the Wii has taken even more of a hit to the playstation family:
1,403,819 Playstations sold,
1,110,646 Wiis sold.

If you read it all you can see im a big Wii fan im just trying to shut up a few slighlty idiotic fanboys who seem to think the Wii will create world peace, eradicate poverty and feed Africa, while outselling the PS family 10-1 in the next 20 minutes.

Actually thats just 2 consoles, the PS2 & 3, which I am reliably informed by certain deluded people the Wii will completely outsell by 2015.

production will not pick up until after april...we already know the wii will sell 4 mil in q1...all that matters is how aggressively nintendo ups production

@ Fastrabbit09: Yup, although the Wii isnt exactly selling out everywhere anymore so im not entirely convinced its demand is all that much more than the 1.8m supply. I pretty much agree with your Wii numbers except im not so sure about the PS2 numbers, because I expect the PS2 to lose only a million or 2 sales a year from now on, so im predictiing it'll sell another 20m+ possibly 30m.
