Forums - Microsoft - How do you deal with disgruntled Halo 3 players who won't play Halo Reach?

haha this isnt my main account. Not even close. But im sorry you disliked halo 3. Now people like you and people that sucked at halo 3 have a chance to be good! Please make the most of it!

However lucky for me my xbox died and im not going to be replacing it for the forseeable future PC gaming FTW. So I really dont give a shit about reach or even halo 3 anymore.

Long Live SHIO!

Around the Network

I would like to say a word or two.

I think a good way to convert your friends is simply they need quality time spent on Reach. I dunno how much was changed from Halo 3 to Reach but the point is there has been big enough changes for Halo 3 players to complain about Reach. Not everyone is quick to adapt to change. Some are real quick to adapt to the new controls and gameplay whilst others are slower to adapt.

Showing awesome footage always doesn't work. In the case of an FPS game, showing people footage of devs showing off multiplayer footage and showing pwnage doesn't always work because just because they're shown pwnage footage, doesn't mean they can just as good as shown in the footage if you know what I mean.

My advice is further enforced with a not long ago example, the Left4Dead 2 boycott. Fans of L4D didn't like the idea of a L4D 2 and hence decided to boycott the game. That happened for a long time even when Valve was showing off footage of L4D2 but the fans weren't buying it. Then Valve decided to invited the people who started the boycot to their studio and allowed them to play L4D 2 first hand and those people walked away excited and hyped about L4D 2. That is why the boycott died off as it got nearer to the release date.

You see, people are only playing a Beta and not an actual final product demo and so there's time for Bungie to make changes, balance it out, etc and eventually fans of Halo will enjoy Reach.

Its there loss if they are like that. I had my doubts at the start but after a few games i started to love it.

Pretty resonable post. I think once the game comes out they may change their tune. I mean Halo 3 community will drop by alteasy 50% when reah comes out... Once everyone they know is on Reach, they may feel left out.

And Reach will have a bigger opening week than Halo 3 so the Halo 3 community is bound to decrease at least 50% during the first week even I reckon. But I also do think the Halo 3 commnunity won't diminish so quickly overtime either. Sure overtime Reach will see 8 Mil + and it'll be No.1 Most Played on Live each week for ages but I think Halo 3 could still be in the Top 10 Most Played each week or even Top 5 after Reach is out. True Halo fans would definitely play Reach but there will always be fans who would want to play Halo 3 because in their opinion, "Reach isn't like Halo 3 and hence doesn't play like a Halo game".
