Lets see how CGI will react to this :| personally, i am amazed at the amount of detail to attention went into making this.

As happy as he is in this pic. I mean, that guy DID predict HEAVY RAIN would become a phenomenon. ut he never thought it would blend so well with GTA! :P

To be honest, I can't tell whether or not the guy in the pic is happy and...I've been staring at it for the past 20 minutes :( I was thinking something along the lines of....

:D

That was beautifully made, excellent work.

Edit: ^^ Haha! I was thinking the same thing, that was really weird - I guess they do it real rough in Liberty City.

If Heavy Rain were multiplatformed, would it of gotten as much of a buzz as it had, and people call it a "phenomenon"? It seems like console exclusives seem to generate far more buzz than multiplatform games. It seems to have far more with a need for a title only on one console to be hyped up, so it can help with the console wars.

Anyhow, I would be up to be corrected on this, but that is how it appears to me.

the happy one seems to be the girl!

on the other hand, being in a picture with a girl like that, he is bound to be happy too

And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

May be somewhat true, but what relevance does it have and why does it matter?

It is a matter of question the nature of the "buzz".  When a console exclusive comes out, individuals will get on it, out of hope,  because they believe it will end up generating more sales for the console of choice.  And the game generates attention it wouldn't normally get, and positive regard it shouldn't have.  That is why it matters.  I would count things like "The Conduit" in this, where you had some individuals in the Wii camp thinking it would end up converting HD FPS fans over to the Wii, and have the Wii be considered more of an option for them.  Killzone 2 also fell into this to, where you had individuals who were leaning on it being a "killer app" and hinting at "Halo Killer" with the title.  It wasn't just supposed to be a really good FPS with great graphics, and a bunch of features.  Killzone 2 was supposed to be an app that would make people buy a PS3 over a 360 if someone wanted a console to play a FPS on.

So, where does Heavy Rain fit into this?  Well, now it gets drummed up in this thread as a "phenomenon" and how it is supposed to be some huge buzz generator.  It isn't that.  It has "Press X to Jason" and also has fallen into a notable part of the videogame landscape, because of what it hinted at.  This was done because individuals in the Playstation side want it BADLY to be elevated as more than a game, but something that will cause the world to see that the Playstation 3 is a way to get movie-like experiences.  So, it is buzz, buzz, buzz.  As I see it, Heavy Rain is a less notable title than Uncharted 2, as far as awareness, and "phenomenon" status.

And I will close, with some extent, by saying some in the XBox camp try to position Forza 3, as some sort of Gran Turismo killer.  And then Alan Wake is also supposed to be the "bestest graphics eva!"

I still don't see how any of that matters. All you've done is come in to bash the game, and claim that it hasn't done anything for the industry. While doing so, you can't even keep up with the name of the game: HEAVY Rain, not "Dark" Rain. If it was just a "Press X to Jason", why have several devs said they are now inspired by such a project? It's not only a critical success, but a commercial one as well (something almost NOBODY saw coming).

You've taken the topic in a direction it didn't need to go. It's as if you're jealous of it or something. The game isn't a phenomenon to you, so be it, you're entitled to that. But don't come in and derail the topic with unnecessary bullcrap.

I called it "Heavy Rain" in my original post, but apparently the RTS title from years ago, "Dark Reign" keeps coming in my mind.  As far as my post, which went to this line: "Be it positive or negative reactions like the infamous "press X to Jason" bit, i think just the fact that someone thought it was worthwhile to make something like this tells a lot about the phenomenon Heavy Rain has become.", I could either comment here or start another thread.  I felt it better to do it here, but if it is better in another thread, I will do that.

You started this nonsense because you are against the title, not because anyone said/did anything wrong. You had no reason to come in and post what you posted, and you wouldn't have done it under different circumstances.

Really a shame too, when you first started posting here, this type of stuff didn't come from you.

I guess exposure to a large number of agenda pieces by individuals who support this console or that, has colored me jaded.  Now, what should of been a neat thread about how someone mashed GTA4 with Heavy Rain, ends up being seen by me as an agenda piece for the Playstation platform, because of the line on how Heavy Rain is some sort of phenomenon.  To a lesser degree I go off on others who do similar with the XBox 360 platform.

In regards to the game itself, I believe the videogame industry is going to bankrupt itself and go under, if it thinks that Heavy Rain is the direction videogames should go in.  The costs of producting games is skyrocketing as there is a desire to produce more of a movie-like experience in it.  So, the focus is on rendering characters, script work, hiring actors, and so on.  So, want to know my agenda about the game?  Well, that would be mainly it, on top of it being pushed for PS3 exclusive agenda purposes by fanboys.

yes, i said that, because i think it has become a phenomenon. I did not say huge or overwhelming, but it is something that is recognized in pop culture, something, like in the video, people go lengths to make a homage on or ridicule it, or just argue about whether it deserved its praise or sales.

welcome to taking part in that
