Forums - General - Sunshine, Oranges, and NOW Marijuana?

California: They have sunshine, fresh oranges that you can just pick off a tree, Hollywood and a Governor that probably wouldn't be in office if only he'd gotten better parts.  And now the state is voting to legalize marijuana on November 2.  Not just medical marijuana, but also for recreational use.

Ok, I admit that I've read the punishment now for marijuana possession is embarrassingly lenient.  It's a fine of $100 for an ounce or less.  But under the new proposal, carrying an ounce or less would be legal.

Since there won't be an underground economy and local communities will be able to allow sales and distribution of pot, companies will be able to package and sell pot at say, the 7-11 or the White Hen Pantry.  So someone will have to properly measure, package and market the pot for customers.

The law also would allow for people to grow marijuana legally.  How about the Martha Stewart "Out of the Closet" guide to Marijuana gardens?  Or how about, "How to Seed Your Weed in Two Minutes or Less?"

Of course there will be a run on items such as Doritos and Hostess pastries.  Someone might sonsider 24 hour trucks like the ice cream man (Cheech and Chong's Nice Dreams comes to mind).......Big pot leaf on the side of the truck and pot, lighters, papers and munchies available at premium price, of course.  After all, if people are high enough, the customers will likely not be in the head space to negotiate.

Let me point out that I am not against this just saying.......

This is my legal opinion..............What is yours?

Sure why not the world is slowly going to fucking hell anyways why not help it along more.

Ok now my real thoughts. While the current US laws are more on trying to control the amounts around and this has done almost nothing to stop users and sellers. I do think it is a big mistake to make it legal, or any other drug for that matter. I also think in time it sadly will be. It just may cost us more in the long run. Just look at what alcohol already cost taxpayers. Make money off taxes my ass

Very good decision if this is passed. If Alchohol and Tobacco are legal then the case for the keeping marijuana illegal is extremely weak in my opinion.

I can only hope Australia does the same eventually.

absoulty nothing wrong with making marijuana legal, hope this comes to Canada too.

Sunshine, oranges, and NOW marijuana?

Sounds like a summer afternoon in the 90's.

They really should legalize it. The government could make lots of money off of it and there'd be less drunks. Guys don't hardly ever smoke a joint and beat their wife. Drinking a bottle of Jack is often a different story.

Legalize it.

Tax the crap out of it.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

It could be a summer afternoon in 2010 if the weather ever catches up to the season lol.

I look at Amsterdam. They have hookers and weed. They are still alive. California will be fine (and slightly richer if they tax it properly)

You always were a cunning linguist, James.
