We have tested Natal Project
Really fun
Today we went and a bunch of other Swedish gaming journalists invited to the Grand Hotel to check out when Microsoft Project Natal to the XBox 360 for the first time was shown on Swedish soil.
After showing up the now familiar demo movie (found under "Read More") and a brief demonstration of a person from Microsoft, it was time for us to test on. The only game that was available was Ricochet, which is a game based on the players to kick, beat, or chest nod balls against a wall and depending on where it hits you will get different scores. Nothing super-advanced games in other words, but one who took me for a quick test of what you can do with Natal.
The interface is nicely intuitive, and you learn quite quickly how and when to approach the ball to get the best result. This game is also quite forgiving so it usually hits the ball even if it is too late or too early in its kind. Here on the right you can see where two of the invited journalists play. Unfortunately, we did not shoot themselves or the game console but there are plenty of other pictures and videos on the web that show it if you would be interested.
So here after my first contact with Natal, then I admit I am impressed and it feels great to play "loose control". I see great potential for Natal, especially among casual gamers who like lirar together with buddies on festive occasions and the like. So far it lags a bit and may therefore not fit quite as well with time-critical and more precision-oriented games. It should be mentioned that it was a development version of the Natal we played on and a lot can happen to catch the months remaining before it's time for the official premiere of Project Natal.
We wrote earlier today about the Project Natal would be released in October but it was unfortunately not confirmed by Microsoft at today's meeting. It said it "Christmas" as release date. Sorry, we do not have any details of any prize or game titles would be ready for release but referred instead to the information probably will be published in this summer's E3 trade show in Los Angeles, USA
