Capcom already projected just 500k for MH3 in the west. 300k for Basara 3 Wii sounds about right. That leaves 800k for other new releases and catalogue sales... RE4 Wii alone for example moved an additional 200k this past year.

New releases then will probably account for 600k or so. They said 6 titles for FY 2011, and that doesn't mean 6 new titles, but titles that will have shipments. So include MHTri, SB3, RE4 and don't know what else. Say there are 3 new titles released, 600k among those 3 titles looks pretty weak IMO, which means they are probably multiplat games like MotoGP, ports like RE archives or Okami or a small new IP like Spyborgs/We Love Golf.

I'm really doubting now that MH3G will ever see a release.

Well, with MHP3 this fiscal cycle, we wouldn't see MHG3 until Q1 next cycle anyway at earliest.  I agree it may not happen for Wii, though with better than expected western sales now, that may help push it forward.  Or (better imo) do it on 3DS instead, and transition the MH base there early.

And the 6 games figure does mean new titles, though it can also include "new" budget titles.  RE4 Wii wouldn't count but a new "Player's Choice" version could.  Maybe Zack & Wiki or something makes the new (user reviewed) Wii budget line?

I agree with your general point though, I'm really not expecting anything.  Maybe a niche title or two at best.  I sort of wonder what sold all those Wii games for Capcom last year though... I mean take out MH3 (1.15m) and RE DSC (600k) and you still have 1.45m games sold for Wii.  What sold all that?  Spyborgs? TvC? Okami? Old RE ports? :/

I really doubt that's the case, where is that 16 new titles figures coming from for the PS3 then? What we know is DR2, LP2, SSF4, SB3 and MvC3. I find it difficult to accept that there are 11 more games scheduled for release this year, even counting cheaper editions. And what about PSP as well, 19 titles? We only know of 3 so far...

I think it's amount of titles that had units shipped, they don't have to be new or anything. Check at the top of the graph posted in this thread, it says shipped units, so the number of titles really correspond to the amount of games that saw shipped units that year. I mean, Capcom hasn't released 34 PS3 games, even if you count cheaper editions (and I'm leaving FY 2007 apart because it's not listed there).

As for the Capcom games from last year, there was MHG which sold 250k~ and RE4 another 200k, so there's 1 million left among these titles: RE and RE0 in the west, Okami port in Japan, Spyborgs in the west, TvsC: UAS in all territories and continued sales from other games like RE:UC, etc.

Tatsunoko in the West was 240k according to VGC, let's say 250k shipped (the Japan version was the previous FY), so that leaves 750k. Meaning one or more of the old games (Zack and WIki? Okami? RE: UC?), or RE and RE0 did much much better than VGC thinks last year (?)

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

So they are expecting to sell 1.6 mill units for this year, as trestres says this means there will not be any new big or at least medium (Resident Evil spin off) Wii game for this year.

Breaking down their 1.6 mill estimation

- Monster Hunter 3 (US-Europe) --- 600k-800k
- Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles and Tatsunoko Vs Capcom --- 300k
- Sengoku Basara (Japan) 100k
- Japan The Best titles --- 100k-150k
- Other legged worldwide games (Resident Evil 4 Wii and Umbrella Chronicles) --- 100k-150k
- Okami, Resident Evil Archives, Spyborgs (lol) --- 50k-100k

Total: 1250k - 1600k

It is painful to see how Capcom dropped the ball with Wii this year despite an outstanding last fiscal year. This is not understandable from a business perspective. Wii sell (undeservedly) great amounts of third party software, mostly shovelware and crappy niche games like MadWorld and yet they still refuse to support the platform. What it is happening with this platform is beyond my comprehension.

Yeah, it's kinda awful.  You'd think a retail MegaMan title or a theoretical RE4.5 would be an easy sell, and enough to excite the base (there's clearly a decent audience on the machine for both).  Or hell, even a Wii version of MVC3 given the already have a ready engine to drop assets into with a third the likely cast already done. :/

Their DS projections are pitiful too (but at least it gets Ghost Trick and Okamiden this cycle).  I wonder if Capcom's gearing up for 3DS or something?
