New to PC gaming, haven't hardcored it for many years, atleast 7 or more now... due to having a relic 2001 PC for two gaming gens... ready to get back on the sattle and have at it now that i have a new high end rig. (i think?)

Still not certain whats best for what as far as gaming goes, but im leaning more towards in the end, GPU > All.

Heres the specs of my new beast...

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-750 quad-core processor [2.66GHz, 1MB L2 + 8MB shared L3 cache]

GPU: 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5770

RAM: 8GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM [4 DIMMs] from 6GB

HDD: 1TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive

Screen Res/Size: 18.5 inchs / 1920x1480 or something like that, forget really.

back at tomshardware and the hqf's they said i7 is a must... but i call bs because hyperthreading doesn't do jack for gaming. that much i do know.

Well... I´ve got a new PC... I am just a little pissed of for the amount of money I spent on a i7 860 CPU... all games I am playing don´t get more than 30% of the CPU...

On the other side... Motherboard with good PCIex interface, good bus (500mbs) and Sata 3.0 + Usb 3.0 will make diferece... and of course a good GPU... I would Say: Don´t investo too much money on CPU to take the best GPU... like 5870 1gb.. it´s amazing..

Monitor.. can be the obvious 2233rz ou somethin like that... imagem is incredible.

BUT.. memory ram... 4GB is enought... 8gb you will never use...
try getting 1600Mhz corsair and a motherboard that has XMP and 1600mhz dual channel..

For Cooling is the eaziest part... take a CoolerMaster CM 960, is cheap, comes with 3 fans... I have one :)

good luck

PSN: franco-br
MGS4, GH, MW2, GT5p, WipeoutHD, etc..etc..

GPU is most important.

Seraphic, u need a better GPU and monitor in the long run, but there's no hurry. In a year or so you can buy a Radeon 6850 or something for a reasonable price and it will match the power of your CPU perfectly.

And yes, Tomshardware are incompetent liars bought by Intel and Nvidia.

Well, it's perfect for all current games. You can play nearly all of them on max settings (except for high AA in some of them). There's not much more to say.

the 5770 is a very good budget card right now and should be enough for at least another year - maybe I'll buy one as well (right now I only have on board, for i don't expect to play pc games until SC2 releases)

@Seraphic, I forgot about Dx 11. Obviously u get to play new games with Dx 11 support like Metro 2033, STALKER, Bad Company 2 and stuff.

I have no experience with Dx 11 yet so I dont know exactly how much strain tesselation and those kinds of new effects stuff put on hardware. But it will look great.

Two words: 'Raid 0'

OK that was a word and a number...

Unicorns ARE real - They are just fat, grey and called Rhinos

Dx11?

and nice, finally a simple answer, the 5770 really should blow Vindictus out of the water then. :P others said its overkill but just making sure any time i get the chance. :P the game recco's a 7xxx nVidia geforce series or equal heres the details...
