Forums - Gaming - Penny Arcade Versus IGN

I dunno about this 7-10 scale of IGN's... Maybe it's because I'm always on the Nintendo section, but I see tons of games get bad reviews. IGN is actually the only site I go to if I'm going to read an actual review. If all I care about is the score, I'll go to gamerankings.

Ign defintely does have a lot of low scores...but, like most review sites, it's been flooded with high reviews lately, because of all the recent "AAA" games. Whether or not they ALL deserve high scores, or whether IGN and other reviewers are just buying into hype is a different question.

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

7 is about what the game deserves. Everything going on now is to try to get people to buy that game.

Controversey sells. But this is pretty weak from both camps.

What did you not like about the game?

Kinda sad that its true for both sites

IGN makes mistakes.......and they made one with AC. Im sorry but putting some really shitty ass games higher scores then AC is just wrong

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

The fact that it was boring after about thirty minutes.

These types of games are not of interest to me. I am not saying my opinion is law, so do not think I am trying to force my opinion on anybody.

It feels like GTA...

And why does this site keep double posting me? It is annoying.

What Jeff said in the PlayStation podcast was funny and true. AC is a game that gives the biggest twist at the beginning of the game which was a letdown for me and was flawed out of the case with many bugs and framerate issues.

All Penny Arcade does is comics, They have no right to tell a reviewer that there opinion is wrong and that they don't understand the game.

I'll take the case!!!

Harvey Birdman - Hate to defend Penny Arcade when I find this entire thing about as pathetic as... I can't finish that without insulting a dear friend of mine and his sexual habits. Just let it be known, it is sad.

Anyhow, but Penny-Arcade has become slightly more monolithic than a webcomic, giving reviews, starting charities, generally being known as the face of gaming online that is run by 3 guys and is pretty honest on their opinions. I have no earthly clue why they cannot tell a reviewer his opinion is wrong, seeing as I don't find myself struggling to vastly disagree with a reviewer, let alone someone who others would feel represent video games and gaming quite well.

Care to re-word your statement, or explain it better?

My explanation may not be good but if you listen to the podcast your get what I'm trying to say.

No it didnt, thats just the way IGN percieved it. Theres alot of twists i was NOT ready for. I have no idea on the framerate issues, there are a minor hiccup here or there but it doesnt effect the gameplay at all, unless the ps3 version was THAT bad.

Bugs can be expected in a game that size, in linear games not so much, but this game isnt really linear as most games. Ive only run into a bug or glitch once or twice my entire playthrough.

Look, From what i've played, the PS3 version had frame rate issues, it had freezing issues (which required a firmware update to fix) and bugs that bothered me (going through walls, ground, and other solid objects). Warhawk was a buggy game when it was released, this IMO was worse than that, although I somewhat enjoyed it.

Didja get that thing I sentcha?
