I think he's totally wrong. It would be a mistake to release the Wii HD. It's like telling 70 million people graphics don't matter that's why you stuck with us, but now you have to upgrade your graphical capability just to play new games. It would be bad for Nintendo's image and likely would not sell as much as the wii, especially considering price.

I get tired of Nintendo fans using this kind of argument on boards. The truth is 70 million people didn't stick with Nintendo. It's true you've got hardcore Nintendo fans on boards that are willing to heap drooling praise all over anything that would put Nintendo back on top of the console heap even if it keeps truely great games from coming to the system but many core fans have gone on to 360 and PS3.

Most of that 70 million that the poster asserts stuck with Nintendo is composed of people that really don't give a darn about traditional or core games on Wii and are only interested in the system for things like Wii Fit and Jillian Michaels Fitness Coach while much better games on the system like No More Heroes, Okami, Fragile Dreams, and Muramasa or even Nintendo's own core games on the system go on to languar in a great deal of obscurity in comparison to the likes of Wii Fit, etc, which most third parties are more interested in making clones of on Wii than true hard core rpgs and the like since those things are really the only third party games that ever really go on to sell more than a couple of million units on Wii.

Also, Miyamoto himself said in an interview regarding the prospects of a Wii HD in 2008 that he thought that both graphics and keeping up with technology were important endeavors.

I get tired of non-Nintendo fans using this kind of argument on boards.

Wii sells the most 3rd party software. Period.

Would you please post a list of that best selling third party software along with its metacritic ratings?

Also, I don't know why people are lumped in with Non Nintendo fans whenever they raise legitimate questions about the Wii. I had a NES with Rob, SNES, N64, GBA, and Gamecube. And, I very much support the developers that are trying to make good games for the Wii like Vanillaware, Marvelous, Tricrescendo, GrassHopper, and Nintendo's own core efforts.

I beg to differ, there are plenty of core gamers on the wii.  Besides when I said they "stuck with" them I didn't mean it as in they honestly decided to back Nintendo as a company in hopes of a better tomorrow but rather that Nintendo took a business model that didn't appeal to the tech junkie crowd and succeeded, so there is no reason for them to try and catch up in the technical race because 1. Their consumers are not as heavily interested in that aspect of gaming and 2. It's too early

Also, I don't know why people are lumped in with Nintendo fans whenver they raise legitimate objections to ill-thought out criticism about the Wii.  I have had a sega genesis, game gear, dreamcast, ps1, ps2, psp, xbox, and game on PC.  Yet I'm just a typical Nintendo fan right?

agreed. im the quintessential nintendo core gamer. im here for only nintendo made games and the virtual console. for the rest i have a PS3, PC, and other consoles from the last 5 gen's

Biggest Joke of the Week:

"It’s too bad, as I think that the right business decision is to launch a Wii HD this year, but they appear to disagree with me.”

lol Wii 2 Delay hurting Nintendo lol... I think a Wii 2 would hurt both MS and Sony more than Ninty.

What a self-opinionated prick! He thinks he knows Nintendo's business better than them? Surely it's time to fire this increasingly irrelevant windbag.

DON'T WIN ME CHIBI BUDDY DON'T WIN ME.

ANIMAL CROSSING NEW LEAF FRIEND CODE:- 5129 1175 1029. MESSAGE ME.
ANDY MURRAY:- GRAND SLAM WINNER!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

I love how he calls it a "delay" as if it had been announced, with a date, and then the date was pushed back. Or it was expected by now. The Wii has been out for 3 years and 6 months. So has the PS3. Yet the one that is breaking sales records and profit records is hurting Nintendo, and the one that lost all the PS2 money is doing fine?

The Gamecube had better core third party support than the Wii has had so far. Almost every major third party multiplatform game of that gen, except for GTA, appeared on Gamecube.

lol.  No, I'm sorry but not even close.

To be fair, E3 is still weeks away.

Once E3 has come and gone with no Wii HD, then we can call him an idiot.

But there is still a slim ( emphasize slim) that Nintendo will announce something.

I agree with Pachter, but I don't think he should judge third party developers on the Wii that harshly. A lot of the third party games are good. It's just that the Wii audience doesn't buy them, and the games are surrounded by a big pile of shovelware.
