Is it really fair? Im not American but wasn't Black Friday in December last year? If so than it is not very fair.

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving, so it would never be in December.

the ps3 has done alright so far for a console. Here is the thing though, its a playstation, i think a lot of people expected it to be a beast from the start, not struggling to keep up with the wii and 360.

Also, i dont think its a good idea to compare the ps3 this year to last years xbox 360 numbers since they are trying to catch up to their numbers now not last year.

Maybe its time for MS to bring in that other $50 price cut, across the board...

Maybe they shouldn't bother with the $50, but with the 50 instead ;) Sales seem fine in USA.

Personally to tell ya the truth, I think it's silly to compare first year numbers of 360 to first year numbers of Wii and PS3. In 2006 gaming had not made the transition yet to the 7th generation, while in 2007 the work was already done thanks to the 360 and the fall of the PS2. So that outside factor kinda makes it futile to compare first year sales as the variables across the board aren't even. I mean its nice to compare things in their first year, but years aren't the same. Gaming changes on a weekly basis market wise, so comparing 2 different entire years even furthers that as well. I think that's an unfair comparison cuase time differs in the market world.

I mean for simple comparisons I guess it could be done, but stating anything out of it would be silly as you never know what could have been different during different scenarios that were present for one but not the other. Just my opinion on this.

I'm not sure, but adding the last 3 weeks together I only get about 350k sales for PS3, so it will be hard to reach 500k for November. Also don't forget the 511k sales for Xbox 360 is for US only, for US only the PS3 numbers will be lower.

The NPD was released early this month? Oh, so I guess you're going by this website's numbers to compare against the 360's November 2006 NPD's. I guess that makes sense. Oh, nevermind, no it doesn't. I think you should wait until the November NPD numbers are released before you start patting Sony's back.

Remember how last month it was predicted that the 360 would sell over 500k on this site when in fact it sold 330k. This site has some funny numbers from time to time, so I wouldn't count your chickens before they hatch.

NJ5, if you want to fix his post you might also want to fix his NPD number

Here's a dose of reality if anybody's interested.

According to Sony, that rate of sale has roughly tripled, so it's likely around 321,750 PS3s were sold in November through Black Friday in North America. If those sales stay constant through the end of the month, then roughly 429,000 PS3s were sold in the US and Canada during the month. That's a marked improvement for the console, which has not sold more than 200,000 units in a single month this year.

In other words, it'll most likely end up around 400k in america for november. Considerably less than than 511k. With this knowledge, I'd say making a thread saying "PS3 on track to easily best 360's 2006 November" is a poor choice for a title.
