Yes, definitely it could happen.

still everything except ps2 games lol
PS3 is technically able to emulate WII its way stronger then the WII.
But why is there no PS2 emulator ? Because its hard to realize ? Or because they just havent the Horse Power ?
No Sony does not want an Emulator thats it. They dont want it. The 60gb in Europe never had both chips just the PS2 CPU the rest was emulated. They had to take out the PS2 emulation due to costs. Then after the damage was done Sony discovered that they can resell PS2 games on the PSN there is no reason to make a PS2 Emulator. If Sony would put enough effort in a PS2 Emulator, we would have one in less then 6 months a better one then all PS2 Emulators out there.
If a Multi Billion company wants to make an emulator and the hardware where the emulator is running has enough horse power then they can do it.
Lets see why is Dolphin not so good for Wii games and struggles on Hi spec PCs ? Probably because the Dolphin Programmer dont have the time and ressources because they barely get paid for it ?
If they had the money and could buy a couple of talented programmers and the right machines and could spend 10 hours a day on the emulator for 12 months with 30 people they would be able to make an almost perfect emulator for the PC.
You just have to differenciate between professional software, which is made by paid peope and the structures are organized and more efficent. And semi professional software, where some people spend their free time or have just a little paid staff. Even though there is a community behind it and a lot of people programm for it they still cant be compared with the power a company has which would spend atleast 5-10 Million for such a project because they expect a 10times-100times higher revenue from it.
Sony already made the decision not to make a PS2 software emulation on PS3. The market pressure is just not big enough that Sony would react. People are buying it despite that and Sony thinks the majority dont care about that and can buy a PS2 where they dont lost money.
Maybe Sony makes a Software emulation when PS2 is discontinued.
A Wii emulator could be done on the PS3 and also on the 360. The Wii is not a little slower its a whole gen behind technically. 5-6 years. Wii is technically on 1999 Level. And PS3 and Xbox on 2005-2006 Level.
Ofcourse they could emulate it and if there is enough money behind the whole thing it could be done good. Why was bleemcast a good emulator ? Because people paid for it they bought it in their local stores. If enough people Start buying WII emulators with money the progress will be huge in the next months or years.

LOOOOOOL!!!!! the ps3 could easily handle 10 ps2 games at once (and im not over exagerating). the ps2 feature was not build very well into the ps3 thats why they had probems. then they took it out to reduce the cost of it. and the ps2 was stornger than the gamecube by quite alot actualy :P |
No the gamecube was more powerfull than the PS2 he is right
Well, from the controller perspective, it would be very possible. Move could perfectly emulate the Wiimote.
But first and foremost hackers need to open up the PS3. Before that even talking about that is useless.

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped: the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA
bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

LOL!!!
@FantasySky
You obviously missed the sarcasm, and no, the PS2 was in no way, shape, or form stronger than the GCN

| Barozi said: Very possible. CPU power is what matters the most when it comes to emulators. high end GPU is not necessary. |
That is only true for veeeery old systems, almost all the post Nintendo-64 emulators use HLE (high level emulation) which means directly transforming the graphics rendering instructions into PC GPU instructions.
I'm guessing you haven't used any recent emulators in order to say something like that...

Technically being able to emulate -- based upon system specs -- yes.
Actually making a playable emulation -- problematic.
Being shut down if it ever gets done by court order -- without a doubt.
(Remember, that's what happened to Bleem).
