square enix didnt sale any more games going multiplat. the people who did buy it would have bought it if had been exclusive. if they had made it a xbox exclusive the sales would still equal ps3+360 totals....or if they had moved it to the wii.
the point is its final fantasy the people who want to play final fantasy buy it...the same way if you want to play mario games you buy a nintendo

That's just...no, that's just horribly wrong.

lol we will find out if FFXIII would have sold better if it was released on PS3 only when FF Versus XIII comes out.

Hmm, that still doesn't prove anything... it can give some hints as to what it might have done. But if it is more critically acclaimed and sells better, then you could argue that it was a better game. If it's worse critically then you could argue that it's worse so it should sell worse. I guess it almost proves it if it's worse critically acclaimed, and it still sells more.

I don't think it's going to sell more even if it is a better game. I'm very excited for it though on ps3 :)

why wouldn't they be happy?
they just sold at least 1M units more than they would have if the game was exclusive to Sony's PS3.

Yes and No, Those who bought it for the 360 but owned both consoles, would have had to bought it for the Ps3 if it was still exclusive, It may have even boosted hardward for the Ps3 if it was still exlcusive, but yes overall it did boost, just thought id point that little bit out

Yeah, but that's something you really can't quantify.  We could go back and forth with things like well, lets say 20% of people who bought it on the 360 would have bought it on the PS3 if it were exclusive and then someone else could say but only 10% of 360 owners have PS3's so that number can't be that high and well there are also the collectors that bought the game twice or more because it was multiplayerform! and blah blah blah.  In the end everyone is just making up numbers that they can provide absolutely no proof for.

What we can show is how many it sold on the PS3 and how many it sold on the 360.  As I said above, it sold well more than a million on the 360 which is more than enough to cover most current gen games so they made their money back.

It was a good decision on theirs and our part (since more people get to play it).  Anyone who says otherwise is just deluding themselves and showing how selfish they are.

ooh don't get me wrong, I'm not going against the decision I was just thinking if it had of remained exlcusive it would have sold slightly more than it did on the ps3, only like another 200k sales or so

hmm not surprised by the results...looking at the sales history of ff7,8,9,etc if 13 doesn't do as well as those i'd say it could be considered a failure.

Possibly 2 Million units by the time it's done.

This.

Last I knew your only a failure if you don't make a profit. and they DID.

Who's to say really, this seems more like a 'what if' question almost. Square could actually feel like FFXIII wasnt a success as they'd hope it'd be. Sure they could be profitable now but it may not be the sales they were looking for.

For all we know, if FFXIII were to stay exclusive, it couldve been released earlier where the hype was stronger and not during a packed month, and sales couldve done alot better. (or worst but we will never know).

compared to the other ff games I would say it is but that is IF it doesn't do as well as the ones  that I listed.

if any ff game comes out in the next 5 years it will have half the sales of ff13. most of the people on the 360 who got it (the casual gamers) hated it.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good
