ID was the developer of the very first MEGA HIT FPS game Wolfenstein 3D. Since it was so popuplar ID has been known my most to be the father of the modern day FPS.

The very first FPS is debated but many believe it is MAZE WAR which was released in 1974.

Wolfenstein 3D. Don't know if there was anything before that, even so it didn't make a blip on the radar.

 

I just hope it doesn't get the Doom 3 treatment....amazing engine but basic gameplay.

Possible, but there were a few threads here about how the PS3 version wasn't running smoothly. If I created this thread that would be a part I would highlight amongst others.

I did miss the stuff about the PS3 version running less smoothly, well that is good news then. I want a great id game, the last one I loved was probably,  hmmm. . . Hexen?

Oh, no no, not at all, I understand your concern, lol.

 

Hexen/Heretic was cool, though I haven't played it in ages. And yeah, Doom 3 and Wolfenstein were a disappointment...this game looks great though.
