This game's lack of any kind of tutorial whatsoever is unforgivable. I hate walking into a situation knowing that I'm supposed to do something and then being forced to hammer on buttons to figure out how it works.

Please say you are kidding.  There was no tutorial per say, yeah.  But it does explain buttons and relevant screens the first time you use them.  Isn't that all that's needed?

The game was just too much for the 360 to handle at the current time. I'm not saying the 360 is bad or it should have been made on something else, it's just they either should have waited for the technology or scaled down the game to run smoothly.

You say that you experience the LOD problem once every few hours (so you saw it, what, 7 times?), I saw it every time I changed rooms. If it really was once every few hours I wouldn't say anything and neither would other reviewers, things like this only get mentioned as much as it does because it is a problem.

Just to point out, didn't you have a problem with Halo 3 not having enough level of detail or environmental props? What do you want twestem? Smooth running game, or great atmosphere and graphics? You seem to be unhappy in either case.  ;)

The 360 can handle it with no problems. They needed to just polish some issues before they sent it out. The game looks fantastic even though every now and then it takes 2 secs to load a texture. Like somebody said, I blame the Unreal engine. It only seems to happen when using there engine in games.

In a forty hour game that might take people a month to play admidst other games, no it's not enough. Just a controller screen that listed the buttons is all I'm asking for. I don't need some in-depth tutorial, just a little helper screen somewhere in the game. It's not as if I'm going to memorize all the buttons in the game right off the bat; after all, I am jumping between ME, RB, CoD, and AC on almost a daily basis. The other games aren't a problem because they have controller screens, why is it too much to ask BioWare to do the same? It would take me all of 2 hours to lay out a pretty screen that showed the buttons. In a $20m game, that's not asking much.

See I like you. You don't excuse any flaws (probably because you are in the field yourself.)

Me i'm not so picky so it sounds i'll like it. Very valuable review though.

It's a very good game that gets in its own way at times. I don't see why people can't admit that the game isn't f***ing perfect. I love BioWare as much as the next guy but I'll have to side with Twesterm on this one. The game, though still great, could have been better.

You can still have fantastic atmosphere without taking framerate hits.  Bioshocks frame rate was fine and that game has probably the most fantastic atmosphere I've ever seen in a game.  The outside areas of Halo 3 were great and ran great.  Super Mario Galaxy looks incredible and runs incredible on a system weaker than the 360.  These games were all great because they knew their limits and knew how far those limits could be pushed.  Bioware ignored this and the game suffered.

A controller screen I can completely agree with. I personally don't understand how some developers miss the most obvious things like that. That I agree with, I need those to refresh my memory on the button layout all the time. But I certainly think the mini tutorial was good enough. I'd never use a full tutorial to refresh my memory on the button layout.

I do find the frame rate issue annoying.  Very annoying at times actually.  Though, in the 10 hours I've played so far, I only noticed it and was bothered by it for like 20 minutes.  So, I do find it annoying, and really wish it didn't have a frame rate issue, but I don't think it's that big of a knock against the game.
