Normally, when we see a sucessful game, we'll get cash-ins very quickly with similar gameplays, sometime, improving upon the original.
NSMBWii has been out for a while but we're still not getting 2D me-toos.
Why?

Why?
Because there's nothing to improve on NSMBWii except for online gameplay.
The game is perfect. The best 2D platformer this gen.
It's been out for just over 5 months. It takes more than 5 months to plan a game, develop it, certify it, and ship it to retail. Not to mention it didn't really show its powerful sales muscle in full until after Christmas (A little more than 4 months ago).
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
Maybe something will pop up on Wii Ware by the end of the year. There's that Jett Rocket game that plays like Super Mario Galaxy so I'm sure someone will deliver a Mario Bros.Wii clone.

Hardly, but it is definetly the best 2D platformer on Wii
Currently playing: MAG, Heavy Rain, Infamous
Getting Plat trophies for: Heavy Rain, Infamous, RE5, Burnout and GOW collection once I get it.
Maybe its because people have given up on trying to cash in. Marios have been around long enough for pretty much everyone to know that it doesn't work.
Tease.
You guys spoke too soon. Sonic creator Yuji Naka is developing a couple of 2D platformers to be published by XSeed.
