Forums - Sony - Prediciton - PS3's 245% increase in sales last week is a joke

It seems very likely to happen, holiday shopping and black friday...

What does seeing many PS3s still in stores mean except that there were many PS3s in stock, which we already knew. It doesn't disprove the huge increase.

Also were you so offended by this that you had to make a thread to convince people that it's not true? Seems like fanboyish panic to me.

You should have waited for the November NPDs or at least VGC numbers before saying BS, cause now if it turns out to be true you will appear very silly.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

D) Historically (using vgchartz numbers) no other console has shown that much of a significant increase in 1 week.

Launch of Final Fantasy 9.

PS1 hardware increase:

(+25,264%)

PWNED.

P.S. I was reading that chart. What is WS?

Thank you Montana, you proved a couple of my points

PR will always hide numbers take make it look bad, for example PS only sold 259 units the week prior this amazing increase, and a % means nothing when we don't know the numbers.

Good tries! Thanks for playing!

So? Why does it matter? You were talking about percentages, and then you sparked this line.

Good try! Thanks for playing!

I just wonder why gebx is so obsessed with smack talking the PS3? He posts polls that seem to always be knocking the PS3, but he's a self admitted Xbox fanboy.

Is he ramping up these negative posts to protect his precious RRoD machine?

Wait till the numbers come out before discrediting any sales numbers. Neither of us really works with stores or Sony to know exactly what they are basing those numbers off of and it's best to leave it to the pros to speculate.

My pokemon brings all the nerds to the yard. And they're like, "You wanna trade cards?" Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I'll trade this, but not my charizard.

this isn't that hard to work out ...Sony said 245% increase from last Black Friday week, now if we translate from Sony spin terms that mean sales are 245% of what they were (which is 145% increase)....VGC sales last black Friday week were 87k
87 X 2.45 = 215k

Sony announced something like 75k sold for PS3 for the week the 40G was released, and their recent statement was a 298% increase from then.
75 X 2.98 = 223k (i assume they may have said 74 or 73k...i will go and check and edit it in)

Fanboyism is a serious problem within Vgchartz and it will be one of the biggest reasons why this forum will never grow to be a decent size. No one wants this sort of **** all the time other then the rare few who have nothing better to do with their time.

Until Vgchartz Moderators understand the line between being unnecassarily negative, troll, argument posts and a coherent proper discussion this forum will maintain it's nice little niche it has going and will never expand.

That is why you always see the same old users, saying the same old crap, provoking the same old argments.

This thread was never necessary but to provoke negative reaction why not make it anyway. You guys may hate GAF but as a forum it expands at an alarming rate and it does it by drawing the line between trolling and discussing. Something this forum doesn't do.

I hope that wasn't aimed at me jhlennon1...also i don't need to edit, it did say 75k.

so next the soon to be posted PS3 sales should be about 200-220k according to Sony.

This site does have a problem with trolls and shills. That said this discussion is pointless for one simply unalterable fact. Sony has a problem with honesty, and more to the point they have been caught being dishonest. They have been caught red handed lying to the public. Nobody has denied this even the most ardent booster wouldn't dare say that Sony has not done that this year.

That is all the argument that needs to be made. The numbers are not legitimate, because the source is untrustworthy. They do not need to play with the numbers they are more then happy to just make them up. Seeing as the media never calls them on it what is to stop them.

Why take a pathological liar at their word. There is no point in defending or attacking the number in question. The numbers have no validity. Sony has a long way to go to be taken as credible. I do not care whether you like the PS3 or not. You have to concede that Sony has to be the least honest console manufacturer of the year, and on top of that they do not seem to be the least bit sorry. They cannot even apologize for their transgressions.

Please tell us more about how to be like GAF so that we can avoid doing it.

Regarding the existence of this topic, I have to say that it's quite justified. Every time Sony posts such news there are tons of people who start screaming "PS3 victory", this thread is merely a way to keep things real. Such reports are most likely going to turn out to mean something much less powerful than they imply.

you can cut it anyway you want its still spin---every time a company make a press release like this its spin--vary raelly do you get spin fre statements from a company--but then again they have to do something to get some good press for the stockholders
