How could Halo 2 win Game of the Year 2005 when it was released in 2004?

I watched the trailer over on youtube. I think it looks really good for a horror game. Better than Silent Hill and Resident Evil? I don't know about that.

I think it's an early contender for game of the year, but at this point, I really feel that Metroid: Other M and The Last Guardian are the top contenders.

And if the next Zelda does come out this year, it's a done deal.

Im a fan of Silent Hill but this game is gonna be way scarier, the whole Monster things made it less scary for me considering the fact that monster are illogical....But where Alan Wake really shines is that its gonna give you chills without the blood in gore, but instead with a spooky atmoshperic story that those games wont come even close too!!! ITS ABOUT TIME

With the music it has? Not sure, but we'll see. I know it'll be a great game though.

Now as for the monsters, the monsters in SH1 are based on Alissa's insecurities and fears, while in 2, they are based on James's lust.

at 2:56 sounds spooky and should fit just right with this kind of game if you ask me

It works with the game, no doubt. But that is not scary, man. I'm sorry. I'm not trying to knock on the game or anything, I really am not, but as far as music goes, in terms of how creepy it is, I have yet to hear something top that of Silent Hill's.

this doesn't even come close to Uncharted 2 or God of war 3, this will never be the game of the year

I personally can't wait to play this game. It's been a long time coming, and I'm slowly reaching the end of my first run through FFXIII. I think it's releasing just in time for me to grab it first day.

I'm not sure about GOTY personally. My number 1 rule is to play a game before I pass judgment like that. So far this year, we've had amazing games like Bayonetta, Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XIII, God of War 3, Splinter Cell, and the list goes on.

For me, I highly doubt any game will be able to top FFXIII this year. But that's not gonna win from critics. As far as magazines and publictions go, it's hard to tell. They all have they're own awards, and it'll be interesting to see what game wins the most GOTY awards.

We still have heavy-hitters like Reach, Gran Turismo, and Galaxy 2 coming this year, so let's not jump the gun :)
