I'm sure Sony is going to want to make the maxium profit off the PS3 for as long as possible and will wait till the last possible minute. That being the moment MS drops it price, most likely around the launch of Natal.
@ Squilliam
I guess MS should have burned their money, as well, since after 9 years the X-Box brand has still lost them more money than it has made.
I'm not saying that the PS3 will get a price cut, but I do for see one a month before Reach.
120 gb PS3, bundled with Move, dropped to $249.99. But will be phased out.
250 gb PS3, bundled with Move, dropped to $299.99.
GT5 will release Oct or Nov 2010.
Move will become a cash cow for Sony.
Killzone 3 or Resistance 3 holiday 2010.
Socom 4, available with or without Move.
With Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M releasing in 1st haft of 2010. It'll leave Sony with the best chance for being number one this holiday.
The majority of content for 360 is also multiplatforn.
There's no reason to introduce an SKU bundled with Move and a smaller HDD if they had immediate plans to drop it for a slightly more expensive bundle with a larger drive. Most consumers would rather have the smaller HDD if the difference was $50.
While a bundle with a "free" Move controller for the same price would be nice, I really don't see mass consumer appeal in such a bundle unless there's a corresponding killer app to sell the public on the desirability of the device.
At best, this holiday season we might see a Move/PS3 bundle at $299.
Even then, there's not much point in SCE giving away the controller unless they believe it's going to soon move a significant amount of software, preferably beginning with the holiday 2010 season. This seems a bit unlikely given that the main initial usage for Move will likely be with current games (not developed for Move) modified with firmware updates to implement Move controls.
Either way, it will be interesting to see what SCE's response will be to the presumed re-tooled, cheaper Xbox with Natal. The response may actually be gauged to the sales numbers following the introduction of said bundle. If it doesn't magically start selling like the Wii, they may not bother to do any price readjustments.
I meant "a price cut, but not right now, but I do see one about a month before Reach releases".
Greenmedic88, Sony needs to get the controller out there in as many ways as possible. Doing a permanent bundle with the system is the best way.
It only does everything to lose money.
When this new hardware will be available in the stores ?
It only does every thing even make the doomed sqaud cry in denial....
What i can't believe is that since mid-2007, there were countless threads about the fact that "Sony is about to turn profit on PS3".
Maybe, this time the information will come true.
As other have said, i will wait for an official confirmation before acknowledging this information.

Being bold, moving first and not waiting for competitors moves to react paid very well with Slim and last price cut, so I must agree.
