Microsoft and 3rd parties make a lot of money off Xbox 360 and XBLA. There's no such thing as Doomed. PSP is what one would call Doomed. When software support dries up, a system is doomed.

No matter what happens from here on out, the 360 can only be considered a massive success for Microsoft.
Last generation, the Xbox was outsold 6:1 by the PS2, and was treading water with the Gamecube, which was back when Nintendo 'on its way out of the console business.'
This generation they are a very worthy competitor to Sony, and have done a better job than them in many areas.
The 360 has cemented Microsoft's status as a serious competitor in the console market for many years to come.
(I for one believe that they will have the highest selling console not in the next generation, but the one proceeding that [if history follows, the market leader stays the same for 2 generations before changing hands])

I want to believe some people are just taking the piss, they aren't serious.....or at least I hope thier not.

this is gold! but even as a PS3, wii, PC gamer i know better. i even voted yes yet still i know better. i just don't see it. it may sell less then PS3 for the next 5yr's but it isn't doomed. weather natal succeeds or failes 360 is not doomed. this is just one of those things that just happens? Microsoft is just in its second gen! sony just filled in ware there was nobody so ps1-2 became a succes. (Proud owner of PS1, PS2, PS3) I.M.O. 360 just like the other two has lots of life left in them. 360 is not dead. in that case this gen is over? you know 5yr life cycle.

if your talking about the 9th gen. i see everyone even. but the 8th gen is the one where Microsoft either falls victom to the 3rd gen curse(you know the one that nearly ever console manufacture has been through and only one (nintendo) has survived)or like i expect. they will be more competitive in. so i do agree, but we talk about two different gens? am i being to positive?

Well since you also own a pc and a ps3 are you concerned about the next 4 years on those platforms?  If not what do you believe is going to keep the pc and ps3 going over the next 4 years?

As long as it's on 2nd place it's not doomed.
