Give them a couple more years and they'll release it.

hey I've had to endure a 6+ year wait until nintendo finally announced a 3rd golden sun! you must have paitence and faith! once Versus XIII is out the way I feel S-E is going to start working on it!

Blame Versus XIII

Though I imagine that there is significant internal debate between Square Enix and Disney over how to handle the third installment.

kh2 was a disappointment. hopefully kh3 will be gud, let them take their time.

It's already been confirmed that Kingdom Hearts III will not be the next Kingdom Hearts game either. So you have at least one more "spin-off" to go. Really though, for all intentional purposes Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep kinda works as Kingdom Hearts III. Square Enix could have called it KHIII if they wanted and nobody would have complained a lot like Kojima could have simply called MGS: Peace Walker MGS5.

As far as an appropriately titled Kingdom Hearts III though, that won't be even entering full development untill Final Fantasy Versus XIII is finished and released. If Wada's recent statement on Square Enix's major releases for 2010 is any indication, FFvXIII won't be coming this year either. Which means if Versus is a 2011 release, then KHIII won't start full development until then which means a 2012 release at the earliest, but much more likely a 2013 release.

Well as long as it comes out this gen.

Considering that Tetsuya Nomura has been working on FF Versus XIII for 5 years and also directing KH Birth By Sleep and 358/2 Days as well as Coded, he definitely hasn't had the time to get fully worked on KH III.

He did say though that he wishes to release another KH game this year in Japan means it's another spin off and he's got another spin off planned for next year as well and he says that he'll soon be in the full planning stages of KH III. But in the mean time, Nomura's priority is Versus XIII and I firmly believe that because Nomura is working on Versus XIII with a PS3 optimized engine, he'll also develop KH III on the PS3 as well.

Never going to happen.  Hori's so deep in Nintendo's pockets I doubt he even lets SE release the PS1 DQ games on PSN...

I thought kingdom hearts 2 was better than kingdom hearts one. But anyways

Tetsuya Nomura like is busy, with quite a lot of games and I read an interview, I don't want to find it nor will I confirm it, that Kingdom Hearts 3 pre-development, began (an interview on Square Enix.com 358/2 kingdom hearts site). But it doesn't say PS3 or Wii

And Dragon Quest 10 is going to be on the Wii and is confirmed I believe, for the main reason of that it doesn't sell (Final Fantasy Well) in the states, and it generally outsells Final Fantasy in Japan. Where the wii userbase is twice as big.
