184k first week Americas + Europe combined (Australia release is this week).

I don't know about you guys, but to me that's amazing!

Calmn down, it's not amazing numbers, the game did not bomb like previous ones. 184K first week for a well advertised, well reviewed and hype game is usually seen as a disapointment, but since this game is doing better than any other MH, I say, excellent start.

Wow....that was a serious buzzkill. It's like telling a kid at his birthday party that cake will give him cancer.

Dead to Rights bombed, go tear that up.....

I am being realistic here, I am suppose to go crazy for 184k, come on. I really think this put to rest Wii fans don't buy hardcore games, but those arent amazing numbers either, just good which says alot about previous MH games.

Chrizum said it was only amazing to HIM, not in general for us all to agree with.

As for you psrock...what type of reaction would you expect from people who've been anticipating its potential sales numbers for months? With the fact that it sold well (I expect a ~30k downgrade somewhere along the line though) people can at least be pleased for one day...just one.

I think you know full well that you were just being a little deeper than just 'realistic'; just look at what you typed.

".....the game did not bomb"

"184k....usually seen as a disappointment"

I'm not asking you to go crazy, but for Pete's sake don't be That Guy.

I agree with your sentiment, but I'd say this is an amazing start for a MH game in the US and Others. An unknown megahyped franchise you could call this mediocre. The series isn't even thought to be worth bringing over all the features for the US ports. Doing this well could mean a much brighter future for the next game from an international perspective.

Starcraft 2 ID: Gnizmo 229

184k is good sales no matter how you look at it in less then 1week, the game came out 4days ago over here in america and in total mh3 already outsold every mh game lifetime outside of japan so I hope this knowledge make the ps3 trolling bs alot easier to deal with since its bs anyway..............

If we compare it to Freedom Unite anyway, it's a howling success. Though that just shows a few things we already know: Wii sells more software than PSP, Westerners prefer complex console games to complex handheld games, and Westerners like Online play.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

mhwii vs mhpsp
mh freedom sold total (without japan) in 10weeks with america and others combind 315,507 now week 1 mh3 sold over 183k in one week with outher and america combined...............
psp/mh 10weeks 315,507
wii/mh3 1week 184,000 (actually less then a week in reality)

so when does anyone think mh3 will pass mhfu? its been out 5days so id say 20days tops 28days...............

mh3 will sell 2million at least I think and in since it sold 73k in less then a week in others I'd say it will do 63k in a full week next time in week 2= 133k and Id say 73k in america in week 2 a full week=184 so my second week prediction witch is actually about 12days= 317k and it will move throughout the next 10weeks possibly hitting 2million and on top of that in that amount of time over 2million more wii's will be sold.............

I hope it does well enough that they keep bringing the games over here, but not so well they want to charge us for online.....

I have a feeling this may reach the 2m mark, I hope 1m of that will be in the west so we can get more console MH games, maybe even a MH Tri G with all the previous MH monsters or new ones or both. 187k in 12 days means it's outsold RS2 already yet funny how no media outlet has reported on MH3 doing well, don't worry much about sales in Europe as MH has a growing popularity over here as Freedom Unite actually sold faster and more over here then the US though I think US sales have finally caught up and are about equal.

As a whole, I'd expect these percentage drops.

Week 1= 185k WW

Week 2 = 58% drop (78k)

Week 3= 35% drop (50k)

Week 4= 29% drop (36k)

Week 5= 27% drop (26k)

Week 6= 33% drop (17k)

Week 7= 23% drop (13k)

Week 8= 33% drop (9k)

So ~415,000 by Week 8. If the legs hold on better than that, color me impressed.

I edited the 2nd week drop; it seemed a little too steep in comparison to older titles on the Wii which did not debut as high, but it could be frontloaded. These sales account for NA+EU+JP starting from April 20th

Legs are what counts here. Nintendo is about the long term, not just getting a huge opening to brag about and get ill-deserved praise by the gaming community.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
