Forums - Sony - PS3 Firmware 3.30 Causing Dragon Age Crashes?

PS3 Dragon Age players report crashing with Firmware 3.30

What's the next feature to be removed from the PS3 through a firmware update? According to some posters on the Bioware forums, it's the ability to play Dragon Age: Origins. Several users have reported frequent crashes or freezes while playing the RPG after installing PS3 Firmware 3.30. "The game has crashed like 7 times in an hour just after the update," complained forum poster "scorpgul." Another poster, "eugeni_dodonov," reported that "it never ever froze before, but since 3.30 it is freezing like every 15 minutes." Players claim to be experiencing the issue on both original and "slim" PS3 models in the US and Europe.

On Friday, online producer Fernando Melo indicated that BioWare was working with Sony to correct the issue, which he called "a bit out of the blue for us." We suppose your Warden could use a couple days off anyway.

I've read a few complaints, and my friend's slim just bricked. I don't know what to think about the timing of that.

My PS3 turns on every 2 min by itself after using remote play, I had to turn off the 'turn on PS3 with remote play' feature after the update.

was going to make a thread about it.

This is true. I recently started playing DOA again (for Awakening) and am stuck (reload my save, everything runs fine until I talk to someone, then crash)

I just quit till its fixed and started playing Fallout 3 (never it on the PS3). Good to see Im not the only one.

I just played Dragon age for like 10 hours, no freezes.

A small group of people having isolated issues combined with the internet = mass recallzorz!

This is crazy really. A firmware update shouldn't affect *how* a game is played. i.e. the devs use SDKs, those should not be affected so as to keep full backwards compatibility with all PS3 games already released.

If it generally breaks this game, I bet it would break others unless bioware did some kind of really unique code design/implementation.
