FFXII: 9.0 - believeable cast and a great story if you look beyond the somewhat slow storytelling (Too long between story scenes I mean)
FFXIII: Haven't completed it yet. Pretty good thus far though.

FFXII; I liked this one a lot, its bigger and more fast paced than FFX despite some problems (the characters are a tad boring, only Balthier is a little cool). I liked the combat, it was somewhat automated but nowhere near FFXIII level where all forms of direct control in combat is effectively stripped away apart from the leader. The story is so and so but the same can be said for most FF games (imo) but I really liked the world and a lot of the levels a lot!
Score: 9/10
FFXIII; I haven't finished it, I'm currently in chapter 10 and haven't played for a few weeks now and I don't feel like it either for some reason. The entire concept has been stripped down to bare essentials and half the RPG elements are gone along with all semblance of depth and control in combat (and with the amount of combat in JRPG's it kinda sucks if you don't like it that much). The characters are extremely stereotyped and predictable, as is the story in good old FF tradition. I do like the game but I think it may very well be the last Final Fantasy I'll ever somewhat enjoy if they keep going in this direction, its becoming an action game series.
Score: 6.5/10
As with all the previous games, I'll rate FFXII based on games of that era and other PS2 games. As such I give it an 8.5.
I feel it began with a pretty solid cast and story and definitely above avg graphics. However, while they established all of these things early on, including a powerful setting and a very large storyline, it seemed to fall apart as the game went on. Characters which were important at the start of the game such as Basch became nearly non-existent towards the mid-game. And other characters didn't even find a place in the plot till nearly the end of the game, such as Balthisar. And of course, other characters were just plain annoying or unlikeable, such as Ashe and Vaan. Sadly, they became the main characters about halfway through the game in this ever changing plot structure.
The gameplay was unique however, and fun. The only problem was, areas were often too long and there was little customization to your characters outside of unlocking new skills. Sort of a more limiting version of the Sphere Grid. But the biggest problem I think the game had was the complete drop-off of content near the end, where the only thing to do after the 'main story' is complete is long fetch quests looking for Espers, 'hunts' for monsters or beat the end boss (which might as well be invisible in this game).
In all, the game is fun, but it has major problems in story development and end game content.
As for FFXIII, I have not played it.
Final Fantasy XII 8.5/10
There is a lot to do, and a lot of places to explore in this game.
Final Fantasy XIII 7/10
After playing 30 hours into the game, I realize I've been playing a 30 hour tutorial. But, it is fun.

FFXII- 8/10
The story concepts were interesting and the gameplay mechanics were great but there was way too much grinding in several parts of the game. Voice acting and script were top notch. One of the most conflicting games I have ever played.
FXIII- 9/10
Great battle system, pretty good story and characters, excellent graphics and music, good VA and lip syncing, a little too linear for some, and huge difficulty spike when you get to Gran Pulse which requires you to grind for a few hours.
@Riachu
plz rate ff12, think of a score. Not sure have no mathmatcal equivalent.
Final Fantasy XII - 9.5/10 One of my favourite Final Fantasies. The battle system was a blast, the ambient music was well suited to the the world. It created a great atmosphere in most places. The characters, mostly, were great. I can't really think of any major faults, it really is an amazing game - one that's gets better and better each play through.
Final Fantasy XIII - 9/10 A highly enjoyable Final Fantasy. Though the story and its script certainly isn't up to par with XII's, its gameplay and the strategy involved, I thought to be much better. And that's saying quite a bit, as I really loved XII's system. Great music, VA, graphics, levels make for a great FF game. I wasn't overly fond of the summoning nor of the leveling system. Another negative would be that the game took far too long to really get into the intricacies of the battle system.
