Some of you may have seen some of my posts here talking about getting a PS3 in the future, and asking suggestions.                              

Well my birthday is finally here (This upcoming Friday) and I guess I'm going to ask for suggestions one more time.

So far I am planning on getting a PS3 Slim ($300) with these games, Battlefield Bad Company 2 ($60), Valkyria Chronicles ($20)  and                     Little Big Planet Game of the Year Edition ($30).

I guess I would like to know if you guys think this is a good package to start off with the PS3, or do you think I should make any last changes to the games I selected. But I can't spend more money than this. I am open to basicly any genre other than sport games.

I have all 3 of those games, the only one I liked as it was fun to play with friends was LBP...

Gonna get roasted for saying this, but I didn't get into VC, played for about 2 hours.. guess I'm not big into the SRPG's which I shoulda known cuz I didn't like tactics either...

BFBC2 is ok.. though only played that for a few hours as well, meant to play it more, but other games came out :)

I'd recommend Demon's Souls - as that was an awesome game, closest game I can compare it to off the top of my head would be Diablo (without the random dungeons)

Also FFXIII was a very good game (don't listen to the haters) and Heavy Rain..

This is damn good, all three games are awesome. Enjoy your purchase, I know that I do.

Just checked to see what games were on the "greatest hits" for PS3 - ie: cheap..

I'd recommend the following if you don't have them/never played them

Assassin's Creed (first one is repetitive, but AC2 was awesome)
Devil May Cry 4 (Need to be a hack and slash fan)
Oblivion (You will spend countless hours with this game)
Fallout 3 (see post above)
God of War Collection (It's Kratos, come on!)
Killzone 2 (replacement for BFBC2? I think it still has a strong online following)
Resistance 2 (see above)
Uncharted (Good game, have to still finish it... lol finished UC2)
Metal Gear solid 4 (I didn't get into it, but a lot of people liked it)
Ratchet and Clank: ToD (Everyone needs to have one R&C game, it should be a law)

Thanks for your opinion Tanstalas, I was also thinking about Demon Souls but I heard it was very difficult and didn't want to start off owning a PS3 with a difficult game. And I never played a Final Fantasy game so don't know bout FF XIII

Get Uncharted 2 over Battlefield. Or get MGS 4 and GTA IV over Battlefield. Or get Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 over Battlefield. Or get Uncharted 1 with any of the other $30 games I mentioned. Not that BFBC 2 is a bad game or anything, I'd just go a different route. Just my personal opinion.

Either way, enjoy your PS3. It's awesome.

I haven't played any of those games before. (I only had a Wii and can't get these games there.) Out of these I was thinking about Killzone 2 the most. Was also thinking about Rachet and Clank but I never played the older ones so I'm not sure. ( I wish they would release a Rachet and Clank collection on PS3)

I played the Battlefield Bad Company 2 demo on my brother's 360 and had a blast. I love the destructive environments also.

My problem is that I haven't played Uncharted 1, any MGS game, I don't really like GTA, haven't played Killzone 1, haven't played Resistance 2.

But I guess you can also say I haven't played Battlefield Bad Company 1 either. Thanks for your suggestions though.
