Those lists disagree. Either way, let's remember that any game can be a best game of all time, if someone wants it to be. There's no fact (right or wrong) answer. I detest an absolute stance on such a subjective topic.


Indeed, that should have said "MY top 20 list of all time", but it sounded like I was saying "the definitive top 20 list of all time." Not my intent.

None of the listed options would crack my personal top 20 list.



No one in the world ever gets what they want, and that is beautiful.

lol @ Modern Warfare 2 being an option. The only title it gets is worst sequel ever.

Out of that list I'd pick Uncharted 2. Out of all games I'd pick Fallout 3.

RTS - Starcraft And Age of Empires 2

TBS - Civilization 4, heroes of Might and Magic 3

RPG - Golden Sun, Secret of Mana, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Pokemon Red/Blue, Baldurs Gate 1 and 2

Shooter - Goldeneye, Perfect dark, Counter Strike, time Splitters 2

Racing - Mario Kart: Wii, F-zero GX

Horror - Eternal Darkness >>> All others put together :P

Platformer: SM World, NSMB:Wii, SM64, maybe LBP

Action Adventure - Zelda Alttp

 

Could go on, but I think the point has been made - the OP put forward current generation games aimed at 15-18 year old males only, and thus the majority of people who answer this quiz will find no suitable answer

Had the pre-dlc ending not been botched I could see it. By the time the dlc came out I had no desire to go back and play past the end.

 

Still, the gameplay was good and the overall framework ws good. I am really looking forward to New Vegas and 4. They had some very interesting concepts and themes in the story, but I don't  they executed some of them very well. Given another chance, they could be really awesome. Still, Fallout 3 is one of the best conversions between styles/genres in gaming. If Xcom weathers the change half as well I might still be pleased.

 

and yeah, I saw the overall love for MW2. *snicker*

Well... when you make a poll like that, be sure to fit the title corresponding to whom or what goal you wanted to reach with it. Judging by the title, it wouldn't occured to be a poll, since everybody has his/her own perspective of an all-time classic.

Personnaly, out of this list, GoW3 would make it for the incredible graphics, epic music and boss battles (especially Cronos).

But GoW3 is far from being my best game of all time - up there is Half-Life, Majora's Mask, Super Mario Galaxy and Donkey Kong Country 2.

I'll choose Half-Life as my fav, because I used to play with my father when I was a child, brings good memories.

Yeah I agree man, it sucked how the game just ended when you beat it. It definitely got a lot better if you bought Broken Steel. Buying that added many hours to the game.

I'm also looking forward to New Vegas!

You should change the title of the thread to 'Best Game this Generation that Involves a Gun' XD but from that list I'd choose MGS4 as it actually is one of the best games ever.
