Forums - Gaming - Why do people dislike easy games?

If it's easy it's not a game. It's entertainment. Then it becomes entertainment with all trappings of "game". Then it just sorta has all the waste of time where your really not playing a game, but going through highly repetition button presses that serve no other purpose than to have more of the same button pressing.

Entertainment software however is interactive and isn't hard. It's not so bound of the importance of the game as it is in the enjoyment of the entertaining experience.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

You play your games for mere "fun" while others, including me play them for deeper purposes such as emotional and mental growth.

People who enjoy playing difficult games have their reasons as well.

The same reason we dislike easy women: Herpes.

I love easy game... but they finish quickly and have very little replay value ( you tend to feel cheated of $$ for short ones).

now a long and polished easy game... that's like going on a roller coaster ride, you just need to sit and enjoy the experience.

Hard games offer a challenge, but sometimes add frustration. (though you do have a feeling of accomplishment).

in short if the game is good, it doesn't matter if it's easy or hard...

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

Some people like to play games they consider 'hard' because they think they're 'hardcore'. Other people play games they consider hard because they think an easy game doesn't challenge them anymore.

I on the other hand learned a while ago, last gen to be exact, that I was looking for those so called 'hard' games and only getting myself frustrated. So instead, I started to look for games I actually thought looked fun, no matter if they were easy, hard or whatever. And in the process, I found games that were both easy and hard, but just fun all around. No longer was I purposely forcing myself to play games like Virtua Fighter or F-Zero or Guilty Gear X just because people said it took 'skill' or it was a 'challenge'. Instead, I was playing what I wanted to play. And I've been doing that ever since.

Consequently, I also played Ninja Gaiden around this time and people stated it was too hard, but it was one of my favorite games. And I attribute that to me not trying to play it as a goal of 'beating' it, but as enjoying it.

It's because there is a very rewarding feeling that one gets when they finish a difficult task. This is something that you simply don't get with an easy game.

Hard gives you room to improve, where as easy does not, so it gets boring more quickly. I don't like getting beat, so i usually work at something harder, where as if it is easy I usually get bored and sloppy playing it.

i like games either way though.

Big lol at your comment! GAMES ARE ENTERTAINMENT!!!

I don't know about you guys but I play games to get entertained, and no matter if you play it on easy and getting bored or playing it on hard and getting frustrated - It still is called ENTERTAINMENT! And games are waste of your time, they are supposed to be!

Sorry, but you sound like you would take games seriously...

There's no satisfaction when you beat them. I like to feel like I earned my way through the game rather than just going through the motions.
