You guys are smoking if you think Sony has learned anything from this gen and pricing their hardware. PS4 will be at least $500 starting. Xbox's sucessor will probably be about the same price, maybe $50 cheaper at most. And the Wii2 will continue Nintendo's tradition of being nice and cheap. Another $250 starting price.

the main reason why sony is third is because of the wii, their is its big price tag but it didnt do as much damage as the wii. also i'm sure that the xbox will be more expensive why?

the ps3 is currently the most advanced console software wise. hence sony doesn't have to do a lot of investments or drastically improve the software of the ps4 since they will already have and used the technology which it's competitors will be using. hence the production price of the PS4 will be dropping, and with blu rays sales sky rocketing i think that sony will make the lose gap btw the prodcution cost and price of the ps4 bigger then the one of the ps3. hence an overall cheaper console.

I do not see what software has to do with hardware pricing. I Do not think any systems will be over $300. I think Graphics are almost where they need to be so not much of a graphical leap is needed, so most of the upgrading would take place in cpu and in auxillary items (movement tech)

Look at the PSPGo.  It ditched the costly UMD drive in favor of flash memory, and Sony somehow justified to themselves that it should be more expensive.

I doubt Nintendo will go above Wii launch price.... they stuck pretty firm charging $200 for so long before the Wii.

well if they improve the software and possibly make it using next gen software the production price will be high. if they use the software of this gen then the launch price will not exceed the 200s.

Hard to tell exactly what you mean by "improve the software" and "next gen software".... I would guess you meant hardware rather than software.

Nintendo has NEVER been about creating "bleeding edge" machines like Sony is..... affordability is a higher priority (among other things).... in a year or two though (ie when Nintendo will be heavily in development of the next console, ie finallizing parts and such) they will easily be able to create a machine far more capable than the PS3 that can be sold for less than $250.

And they will absolutely not have an RRP above $300..... I suspect it will be the same as the Wii at $250 (due to inflation their consoles had been steadily getting cheaper from NES to GCube. They will most likely keep their consoles at $250-300 for another 20 years... well assuming the idea of console gaming is still the same 20 years from now)
