Here's the best I can do:

Blu-Ray has 17% marketshare of recordable media in Japan, with DVD at 80%, and HD DVD trailing at 3%.

Blu-Ray has 96% of the overall high def media market in Japan.

Blu-Ray has 73% marketshare in Europe (in terms of movies sold).

Blu-Ray software (movies, not ps3 games) has been consistently outselling HD DVD in the US the entire year, at an average of 1.86:1.

Also, if I recall correctly, Blu-Ray discs outsell HD DVDs 7:1 in Australia, however, this means little as only 8,000 discs have been sold total, 7,000 Blu-Ray and 1,000 HD DVD. I can't seem to find a link for this information, but it popped up within the past few weeks.

Thanks dude.

The above link is legit, but this link is nearly a year old, so not really reliable, especially since italso  doesn't say if it's software or hardware that blu-ray is leading in. We'd need more current figures to know.

Also legit in figures, but the main thrust of the article makes this guy look like a jackass, especially the whole comment, which is not given in this specific story, but on other sites. And it's that trash talking that turns me off this format war far more than the figures.

Damn, you're right.  That link is from January.

Here's a more recent one from September:

A question that is very comparable to video games I think.

What is more important? A larger install base (HD DVD) or higher software sales (Blu-Ray)?

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

Blu-Ray has larger software sales because of it's larger install base (ps3). The only question that remains is just how many ps3s are being used to watch movies.

HD DVD fanboys like to leave out the ps3 when talking about hardware sales, yet they love to include it when talking attach rates, so they can claim that Blu-Ray has like a .06 attach rate or something.

Actually, that's supposed to be the HD-DVD camp that does that, and it's the BDA accusimg them of that, so neither side has their hands clean on this.

Which is even more vile and disgusting than meatspin. ;)
