Forums - Gaming - which game this gen has made the most impact on u ?

It was No More Heroes, after Tales of Symphonia in the GCN, no game really attracked me that much.

I completed it in 3 days with most of the jobs/ sidequest ranked Gold, sadly the ending screw the whole story, but i must admit i was just using my imagination too much (a very twisted ending lo lo lo lo lo )

Like CGI said games impact me on several different fronts too so I'll divide up my fronts:

Story -- MGS4......just no words..more than story the way it was told, each moment of the game is amazing for me. I can never forget bashing the triangle button on the controller during the microwave scene hoping snake would just move an INCH closer to the room at the other end....it made me care for that character.....it gave me a feeling of urgency with the battle outside being shown on the other screen, it was an amazing moment.

Gameplay -- FFXIII.....after 14 years I can truly say I was REALLY addicted to a RPG's battle system & wanted more & more....the last time such addiction happened was Pokemon Gold. Loved the paradigm system.....loved the satisfaction of changing roles every 10 seconds. Also when I used to play FF7/8/9 I used to always imagine the way the characters may carry out their ATTACKS....it couldn't just be .....go up to the monster, hit. FFXIII delivered on that imagination and really the way I imagined monsters and my warriors would fight and attack the monsters came to life in front of me....seeing the characters going and twisting turning while fighting, launching moves. Fantastic.

But finally as a GAME overall:

It was actually the Phoenix Wright series......I had never played games like them before and I got crazily addicted to them in a way I never expected to be. I went in thinking they were some niche anime style game BUT boy was I wrong. What I got was some of the most compelling stories, with really classic music & a very polished game with likeable characters (Gumshoe FTW)!

Expectations weren't blown, they were bombarded out of the water

About MGS4, I DID THE SAME EXACT THING!!!  I kept pressing triangle and saying "Please Snake keep moving your almost there don't game over on me now!"  And my brother was giving me this "WTF?" look.  But damn that was so amazing.  Heavy Rain is another game that made me go like that.  When Shaun died, that was just sad.  Everytime i pass that part it still hits me even after i played it like 20 times.  And don't even get me started on the different endings.  From putting a smile on my face to almost making me cry.  Heavy Rain and MGS4 are perfect examples on how storytelling should be.

Currently playing

MLB 09: The Show(PS3)

Bioshock. The story telling and creation of the universe was stunning. Uncharted 2 for making the most movie like game ever. Assassin's Creed II for creating a flowing and living Italy that really felt alive.

Others too, but what they all have in common is a cast of characters that feel real, especially UC2.

Further proof that video games can be art, and Roger Ebert is a dick.

Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort

They have made me fall in love with gaming in a whole new way along with many of my friends.

this gen?
I guess zelda: twilight princess

Metal Gear Solid 4, in each and every aspect.

"You have the right to the remains of a silent attorney"

Super Robot Wars K.

Playing that game inspired me to watch about 8 new anime, many of which I had never heard about and all of which I enjoyed.

Super Dimensional Game Neptune will once/if it gets released. (Im serious too)

For now it is without a doubt Demon's Souls. No other game has had the impact on me that Demon's Souls does. No other game has made me excited to go fight a boss for the first time or the 100th and freaked me out at the same time. The weight behind everything in that game was fantastic.

Call of Duty 4 easily. Its not the first game I ever played online, but its the game I've played the most online. My marks in grade 11 and grade 12 probably would have been higher without CoD4.

Call of Duty 4, i played it the most. It made me love fps, it's just the most best fps online ever.
