Forums - Gaming - Should/Will Ubisoft Port 'Just Dance' to PS3 and 360 for Move and Natal?

You can bet all your money on that pal.

I wonder why some people are thinking Natal is a better fit for it than Move. After all isn't Move meant to be a carbon copy of Wiimote ? Hence if Just Dance works well on Wii it should perform equally well on Move, nes pas?

So does this mean people think it's implementation on Natal would/will be better than its implementation on Wii? And it's not even 360/Natal fans saying it here, I'm impressed. I do agree that Just Dance is an excellent fit for Natal, but I think it would be a very good experience with Move too for those who like this sort of thing.

Business-wise, it would be better for Ubisoft to port the original for NATAL and Move rather than create a Just Dance 2 for all platforms. Otherwise, Just Dance is going to end up being a washed up franchise just like DDR. Milking a franchise to death isn't the best strategy. Didn't music games take a big hit last year in revenue?

E3. Natal port at the very least.

Agreed on Natal, I think it would be an instant success. On Move, however, Sony will probably just make their own IP that's similar in style.

And be able to offer much more tracks on the game.... due to Sony music.  That's what makes Singstar so successful, they can get songs for free that other people couldn't afford.

Then again, we never got a Sony Rockstar.  They could of eaisly cut off Rock Band and Guitar Hero and dominated that niche via leveraging Sony music.

Sony's different branches SUCK at working together and harnassing each others strengths to give each other a competitive advantage.

Completely agree.

I don't get it... all the reports I see make it sound like they're all brothers competing for their "mothers" attention. (The CEO.)

Stringer seems like he's working hard to change that corporate culture, but it's taking a lot of effort.  Synergy really can help, so I don't know why they don't work togetehr.

yes, but i dont think it will be a port of this game, instead i think they will release the sequal on all 3 platforms, and it will be a launch game for both Natel and Move, but imo i think it will play so much better on Natel as its like this game is made for it.

Won't it be a little soon to release JD2 within a year of JD being released? If JD keeps on showing the legs it is right now it would be a bit daft to make #2 while the momentum is still going. It'd be L4D all over again.

Perhaps rather than a direct port it'll be more like the Ninja Gaiden Sigma / CoD:MW Reflex trick. A "new" game, but largely the original with some small differences.

@CGI: Why would Sony do a replica of Just Dance? It's to the advantage of Move that as many 3rd parties get titles out there for Move as soon as possible. Imagine at E3 Sony's launch list for Move has a Just Dance clone, whereas Natal has Just Dance Sigma Reflex? It makes the Natal line-up look like it has better 3rd party support.

If Sony want to utitlise all the music rights they have to their advantage with this game there's always exclusive DLC arrangements they can make with Ubi. Or if they are Sigma-ising / Reflexating the game then they can have some added Sony music exclusive tracks on the PS3 version. After all doesn't Sony insist that late ports always have something extra?

It wouldn't necessarily be a "replica". Sony ususally does things in their perspective, LBP isn't a replica of Mario, Killzone isn't a replica of Halo. IF, they did a game of that sort, it would fit into what Move has to offer.

Yeah, that'll fly with the punters just like trying to claim Move isn't a Wiimote clone

Your comparison of LBP vs Mario and KZ vs Halo is a little flawed though. Those games exist in genre's that have a large number of games spanning a number of generations, therefore any FPS/platforming game that comes along can only ever be called derivative, not replica, and all games are derivative, including Halo (maybe not so much the original Mario platformer though). In a genre with only 1 game to represent it at the moment (AFAIK) any Sony entry alongside JD as an alternative will, especially as a launch title for the Move, rightly or wrongly come across as a JD clone / replica. I think Sony would serve the future prospects of Move better by having the already sucsessful 3rd party JD brought to the Move.

That's not to say others shouldn't step into the JD space, obviously there's a bandwagon here to be jumped on, and why should Ubi be the only one on it? I think if there is some optimisation for Move that can be better achieved through a game that isn't JD then Sony should think about developing it's own game in that genre and releasing it some time after a JD port. Testing the Move waters with a JD port also means Sony aren't putting any developer resource into something that might not pay off, and Ubi will probably make a return on much lower sales than would be necessary for a brand new Sony IP.

Ubisoft will bring ports of all their casual franchises on both x360 and ps3 asap. That's the type of publisher they are.

when natal and Move releases there would be some install base on 360 and ps3 that would buy this so why not?
