MGS: Peace Walker is 30-40 Hours of Gaming Perfection

This week’s Famitsu reviews include a perfect score for Kojima’s latest masterpiece, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and also reveals that the story is indeed 30-40 hours long.

The perfect score of 40 (meaning all four reviewers gave it a perfect 10) from the magazine may not come as a surprise considering Hideo Kojima’s last game, Metal Gear Solid 4, was given the same stellar score. What is surprising is the length the reviewers have confirmed the game to be. The previous MGS games have usually been just around the 10-12 hour mark at an average (though admittedly much less if you skip the cut scenes) so an MGS game going for double or even triple the length is certainly a welcome surprise. It’s also worth mentioning that this was achieved with just a single UMD for the title.

Other highlights of the review mention an absorbing single player and co-op experience, charming cut scenes that give an impression of an “evolved” Metal Gear Solid, and a deep “balloon” system that goes hand in hand with the “Peace Walker” subtitle.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is set to hit North American shores on June 8, 2010.

This is by far the longest MGS yet.

its because it does have some kind of grinding as you build the army and have some kind of economics system in it.
this game has too much depth in it its crazy.

The thought of playing a 30-40 hour game on a PSP is actually less appealing to me, but I suppose this is good news for those who need a good dollar to hour play time ratio to feel like they're getting their money's worth out of a game.

But if the game really takes that long to finish, I'd rather just play it on a console.

Not that this will make me cancel my Big Boss pack pre-order, it just means there's a lot less of a chance that I'll actually get to see the whole story.

Well it was total crap when Portable Ops did it.

I loved what Portable Ops did, and if this one is using the same and adding an economic system (hype +1)

btw: Not my style =/= crap

99% of the games you consider crap are great imo
