Forums - Gaming - DO NOT Trust Magazine's Review Scores

What will everybody complaining be doing if this game ends up with like a 97 on Metacritic?

Yes?  The issue isn't with the score that was given.  It was the complete disregard of journalism ettiquite.

If Gene Shalit is reviewing a movie he's IN you better damn well believe he's going to mention that.

Even if the score is in line... it's shows that the review department has either a ethics or judgement problem.

Congratulations on not providing any info on why Kotaku is not a credible site..

Wordplays Definition: Publisher of Mag, has Mag give game a perfect 40/40, then Publisher joins game's ad campaign?.. who knew..

The name thing seems to be a Pun in light of the article..

Can you please share some links to show how Kotaku is up MS's butt? from what I have read of Kotaku, Gizmodo, lifehacker, they seems to love Apple..

Yes, theres allot you missed.

Well, he was part of the ad campaign before the review was leaked. I even believe someone said on these forums to not be surprised if Peace Walker got a 40.

Once again... people here are an EXTREMELY informed niche.  This is true with the internet in general.  The average consumer?  Not so much.

hmm there seems to be something rotten in Denmark..

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I never saw more magazines and sites BOUGHT by a game publisher than all those who sold their souls (deep pockets) for GRAND THEFT AUTO IV. Famitsu is quite alright if you look it that way.

Wondering when "fun factor" stopped meaning anything in gaming.

It never stopped meaning anything. *i just fucked my own mind*

Indeed. I think I know what you're saying, and I guess I should qualify my statement a little. MGS is not an inherently un-fun series, but playing it on the PSP was one of the least fun experiences I have ever had with gaming. Where is my second effing analog stick Sony?!?!?

Well, i am sure you cannot speak for every game. I had fun with the demo. I wouldn't say it deserves a 10/10 (yet, i haven't played the game ofcourse), But it was fun for the most part. You just need to get used to it.

Isn't it possible that the game is THAT good?

I mean this is Metal Gear, not MW2.

Here's how it should be done. It's an article from IGN about Newscorp, which owns IGN. So they put in italics in the article itself, IGN IS OWNED BY NEWSCORP.

This is indeed my point.  This is seriously all you need to give do to be proffesional about this.

And this wasn't even an opinion piece that IGN did this for... it was just a regular article.

A simple Famtisu appears in peacewalker and some of it's employees advertised the game. is all that is needed.
