Well GTA:SA sold around 16 - 18 million on PS2

It was timed exclusive though........and did go multiplat eventually.

Either way 15 MILLION is a big enough number!

Yeah its pretty insane dude. And that's just USA. It amazes me how people are like "Oh GT5 will flop because it took too long to come out...etc." Its like STFU GT5 is gonna do great!!!

actually, wtf, how did the hot coffee mod get removed because it would have gotten an AO rating, it's less explicit than mass effect 1.

I have a story about it too. getting it err. kiddy. Uhh, I loved that game.

GT5 will probably sell a lot of copies, and it will keep selling until the end of the generation because they probably won't release GT6 this generation. However its overall sales will probably be down in comparison to GT1/2 and GT3/4 of the previous generation.

@squillum, well likely, because didn't GT4 sell 6 and prologue sell like 4. And I don't think GT5 can do more than GT3, because the PS3 isn't as dominant as PS2.

But then again, with all the delays, GT5 may be the most anticipated title from the entire series, especially since it's an HD game. Not even that, but we have seen so many times this generation that install base is a very crappy measure of a game's sales (See: MGS4, GOW3, etc). Even if install base did matter so much, a recent survey states that 35 percent of people who plan to buy GT5 haven't purchased a PS3 yet, therefore we will naturally see the install base increase too.
